Agent says he will void final three years of his current contract:

Wide receiver Terrell Owens is leaning toward voiding the remaining three years of his contract with the 49ers, his agent said Monday. That would force the club to decide whether to keep him by designating him a ``franchise player'' or let him become an unrestricted free agent.

My favorite part of that article(it's my local paper) is where his agent says they told the 49ers NOT to use the franchise tag.

He basically says "if they do it will get VERY ugly." Gotta love the agent's honesty, can anybody imagine Owens being difficult in the matter ?

I'd love to have him on the Cards but I'm not sure it's worth the problems. Word is of course the Eagles want him.

Why would any coach want this cancer on his team?

TO is dumber than dirt if he thinks anybody will pay big bucks for him. His arrogant stupidity is exceeded only by Keyshawn Johnson.

We've got the best possession YAC guy in the league, with for now, the best attitude I've seen since KVB and we have huge holes at cover corner and pass rusher.

Hopefully (and probably) he ruins somebody's salary cap.

There will be quite a bidding war for TO by the Ravens and the Eagles. Could be fun to watch!

Dude, we have Bryan Gimpmore, Jason McAddley, Nate Poole and Kevin Kasper. Why would we need a washed-up, has-been receiver like Terrel Owens?

I'm with Section 11. He will do more damage to us than help. We need huge help elsewhere and every year there are plenty of receivers floating around in free agency. TO is not the answer and I don't hate to think about how many players we could sign if we don't sign him. We have (our) Johnson. He will be very good.

Hmmm I don't know TO might be the best receiver in the game, saying that Johnson could replace TO's productivity might be stretching it a little bit. Getting nice guys hasn't really helped our team lately except for the Q of course!

True but, say we lose a few at the beginning of the season and TO isn't getting as many touches as he wants. Do you think that he will contribute in a positive fashon?

So what makes him so unique in that respect?

I think that everyone more or less agrees that Arizona will not persue TO, even if that were to be an option, which at this point it is not.

The reason I posted this is because I love to see teams in our division have to work through this sort of nonsense, when it is generally assumed that we hold the monopoly on this stuff. Either way, TO is intent on making this a very difficult process for the 49ers and, I think, that is good!

I would much rather see the CARDS put an all out effort to sign McAllister and Kearse than throw a lot of dollars at T.O.

I am not objectionable to players with less than perfect attitudes, I just believe we have bigger holes to fill than WR.

I would look for a stretch the field type of receiver in the draft if possible.

It took management about 3 years to get rid of the cancer on this team. A la Boston, Pittman, Rice etc. Talented sociopath. Hell maybe psychopath. I can see someone who needs 1 more piece to go to SB, taking a chance, but not a rebuilding team. I can't believe he would even consider this team. Don't forget, he is tired of losing. Total Coach Killer. Reminds me of Latrell Sprewell.

Why would we want a guy like this any where near the Quan. That would be a sure fire way to screw him up and the rest of the team too. Remember we already had a head case like TO his name was david boston.

Or that he and San Fran won't work things out to keep him there. As it stands right now, he is under contract for next year with the 49ers.
