They open up the lots 4 hours ahead of gametime. You can tailgate in the parking lots or you can cart your stuff over to the great lawn. If you want to tailgate on the lawn, I suggest you secure a West or West Preferred Parking Pass. Otherwise, you are in for a hike. There is usually some entertainment on the lawn, and it is cooler to party on the grass than the asphalt.

Nearly everyone brings their own pop-up canopies, which are supposed to be no larger than a 10x10. Security does not allow charcoal grills, but I have seen them used.

If you are coming in multiple cars, make sure you arrive together. Security directs you to your parking space. (I ignore them, but spaces around you will be filled up quickly, so you can't save them).

Cook whatever you want (burgers and brats are always a good standby). I would suggest bringing lawn chairs as well. You may also want to bring something to tailgate after the game. The lots are terrible to get out of, so I usually just tailgate for another hour to let traffic die down.

Hope that helps.

Go Cards!

Guys, chime in on this one. I can only speak for my lot, but I assume that every lot, including the free lots away from the stadium have some tailgating. I personally would recommend buying a pass, but you'll have to get it from stubhub or somewhere else. This will allow you to get close to the stadium and soak up the atmosphere.

(Anyone in the free lots have any input on the tailgating situation?)

i parked in the free lots 3 games last season, not as much cooking or tent space, but there's still eople hanging out, youwill just have to deal with lots of opposing fans.

I think it will be worth it for you to pay for the parking pass. Considering the you are traveling from SoCal for the game the additional cost for the parking ain't much.

I would buy the pass for the West orange lot. You can use the lot or the great lawn to tailgate. BTW Can't believe Matt fell to us at 10 last year.

We got in free last year by hiding under the turf and riding in with the field.

A little cramped for tailgating but you can't beat the price.

Y a know.. Last year I was seriously thinking of asking the Cards if we could tailgate on the field outside, then when the game is about to start if they could just roll us in on it, bbq grill and empty beer cans and all..

Man, Im lazy some times..

Maybe it can be a silent auction item at next year's kickoff luncheon. I'll ask.
