The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have signed forward Connor Kurth to a two-year entry-level contract that will kick in during the 2025-26 season. In addition, the Lightning have shared that Kurth will play the rest of this season with the Syracuse Crunch on an AHL tryout.
Kurth, 21, was selected by the Lightning with the 192nd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11 forward just completed a three-year collegiate career with the University of Minnesota, posting 32 goals and 71 points in 115 games.
Kurth just completed his tenure with the University of Minnesota in a strong way, too. In 40 games with the school this season, he set career highs with 18 goals, 21 assists, 39 points, and a plus-31 rating. Now, he will look to build on this as he begins his professional career.
Overall, there is no harm in the Lightning signing Kurth to this entry-level contract. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he makes with the Lightning later down the road from here.
