34k isn't that bad of a size for baseball - the "sail" is actually going to be their roof on this thing - they'll extend it from the support poles to shade against sun/rain

on a side note - it looks like the marlins have a deal in place for a stadium on the orange bowl site - some details left to work out, but an agreement in principle on the BSA was made yesterday .......... although given south florida politics i won't be happy until shovel hits dirt and ultimately the miami marlins roll out in 2011

Almost the entire country of the Netherlands is below sea level. That shows you what is possible in countries that are more technologically advanced.

that's a bunch of crap

the netherlands aren't on a hurricane route...............

the mere fact that most of the area of NO is hospitable is a feat of technology & engineering

You ever been on the North Atlantic in a small ship in a storm in the middle of winter? It is fact that their technology for flood prevention and land reclamation is decades ahead of the US system.

The point I am trying to make is that if you take the position that you cant build below sea level then we are going to be in a lot of trouble. The sea level is rising. If you cant live below sea level then say goodbye to living in the part of the world where the vast majority of people live. Say goodbye to New York, Miami, London, etc, etc.

i didn't take that position - just pointing out that the natural disaster impact between the two cities is very, very different
