The D'backs brought up Josh Bell to give him a chance at 3B. He's a good fielder with a strong, accurate arm and the potential to be a good power hitter (and a switch hitter).
Why the hell doesn't Gibson give him a chance? Start him at 3B for two weeks under tight supervision by the hitting coach. If it doesn't pan out, send him down for more seasoning.
Everything to gain and nothing to lose. He couldn't be much worse than Roberts. But Gibson has not shown the inclination to let anyone get accustomed to a role, except Upton (who has different players hitting before and after him game after game). Each day is like spring training.
BTW, in addition to a bad call by the ump, calling a strike as ball four for Miley's only walk of the game, it was Roberts who gave the game to Texas.
First with his showboating the ground ball instead of getting behind it as an infielder should. Then almost with his bad throw on the next play, which Goldy dug out of the dirt to end the inning instead of extending it.
