Reports are Green and Jones are going to NY for Balkman and then are both going to be waived.

Anyone know if Green is any good? I heard he was solid for Florida a couple years ago.

Taurean Green has been on my mind as well. His stats aren't great but he has not received much playing time either. IMO, he is well worth a look. Maybe it's because of his size and quickness but he reminds me of a young Avery Johnson.

I thought he might be when he was drafted, but didn't show much last season. He only played in 17 games in Portland and Denver. His shooting was awful (7 of 25 for the season) in just 4.4 minutes a game.

His 4 games with the Portland D-League team was 19.3 ppg but on 38.6%; but did have 9.8 assists per game. On the Denver D-League team (4 games) he averaged 15.3 ppg on 46.5%. He did shoot well from three on both teams at 47.4%

Green led the charge for Denver today, spearheading their balanced offensive attack. He showed great range on his jump shot, knocking down a handful of catch and shoot jumpers from the outside. If Green can stay consistent from three point range, it’ll help his cause immensely, as that’s something that all teams are looking for in a third point guard. His ability to run the show is good but not great. He’s not an elite playmaking guy, but today, he made good decisions and didn’t force the issue. Green did a great job getting to the line during this game, showing good quickness and solid body control when around the rim. He’s not a finisher, but is smart enough to know how to make his drives worthwhile. Though he didn’t have a huge impact defensively, Green gave the savvy performance that his team needed from his to run away with this game.

Pretty funny. Isiah love Balkman, but he is sure not a DAntoni player.

Its pretty clear that DAntoni doesnt want anything to do with players who do not fit his system--especially young players. I wonder if he demands that they be traded or just tells mgmt there is no way he is going to use them and mgmt just decides to find a way to save the money.

What an odd trade. Trade away a legit player in balkman and cash to waive two players you get in return?

The Knicks have a hugely conjested roster with lots of redundant players. Balkman played 952 minutes but hit only 1 of 12 three pointers. His free throw shooting was just 41 of 95 attempts.

It would be the latter. D'Antoni would just tell management he is not going to play Balkman and let the management take care of the rest. :)

I wonder if New York provides D'Antoni exactly the type players he wants, how far he might extend his bench. I think it has been more about not getting the right players for his system that has limited his player rotation in the past.

Anyway, I would love to see D'Antoni's bench be completely stocked with his type players and see the results when it run with minimal budget limitations. Maybe it will work or maybe it will fail. In a way, New York can be a test lab for an extended review of the D'Antoni system.

I'm hopeful of where the Suns are now. However, I am intrigued about what may or may not happen in New York.

I too am curious about what D'Antoni will do with this team. He inherited Amare, Shawn, and JJ. There was little doubt that Nash was the type of PG he needed, but after unloading Marbury Nash was actually an obvious choice.

I'm not sure there is much on the Knicks that really fit his tyle, but perhaps some of these guys will prove a good fit.

This trade is kinda funny and symbolic. It's just another way to diss Isaiah Thomas. Remember back when the Knicks drafted Balkman 20th overall, to universal boos, scorn, and laughter? Everyone said, "This is a second round player." Isaiah said, "But Mike D'Antoni and the Suns wanted Balkman really badly so I had to grab him first!"

LIES. ALL LIES.

OH man, I forgot about that. I believed Isiah at the time, and was so glad he took Balkman instead of us.

I had never even heard of Balkman before the draft that year. Also I don't recall seeing him on any draft boards although I'm sure somebody had him rated. I would question the Suns interest in him.

The lack of information from the Suns about any movement towards getting a PG is driving me crazy. Even players like Green are moving. I thought there was a chance that he could be a camp invitee or something. Four years of not having a legitimate PG behind Nash still wears on me. I guess the Suns are waiting on the Dragic situation to play out. I just hope they don't wait too long.
