NFL.com's Gil Brandt is reporting that there are teams who rate Michael Floyd higher than Justin Blackmon. I just listened to a podcast with Bucky Brooks and he said that there are alot of NFL people who see Floyd as a poor man's Larry Fitzgerald.

Floyd may not even be there at #13. Sounds like the Buffalo Bills are a possibility at pick #10.

If Floyd is a poor man's Fitz, then Blackmon is a rich man's Boldin.

Ironically enough those are two perfect comparisons. Both Floyd and Blackmon are crazy similar to Fitz and Boldin respectively. I think Blackmons going to drop just not sure how far....

You know the Rams are taking one of them. Considering 80% of our DBs are sub 6', Id prefer they take blackmon. Big WR's are a pain.

Ive always had Floyd ahead of Blackmon. I dont understand Blackmons high rating. Hes very good and Id love to have him, I just dont think he falls anywhere near elite status. Hes not even in the same league as AJ Green from last year.

Not especially fast, nor big, nor has Fitz-hands. Hes a very good route runner, and a tough player.

Floyd is fast and very big. Everything else is a wash. So size alone I think Floyd has it.

Got my fingers crossed we get Floyd. Im telling you, itll be insane to have him + fitz. We wont even need a good oline. Just toss it up and one of them will coem down with it.

After watching tape on Justin Blackmon and AJ Green from last year, I highly disagree with you. Justin Blackmon does not play anywhere close to 6 foot 7/8th like his size says. The guy suctions to the ball better than most players I've seen. AJ Green is a more finesse player, where Justin Blackmon is a much more physical player. The comparison to Anquan is dead on, except Justin Blackmon is much much faster.

I agree with you and I'm praying he drops to us. Can you imagine a two year first round draft class of Patrick Peterson and Justin Blackmon? Insane drafting...

The difference being that Q (Blackmon)was a workhorse and (guys like) Green are big playmakers.

Its apples and oranges, theres no wrong answer to whos more important.

IMO, I think playmakers (stars, Fitz, Andres, Calvin) because not only are they targets but they also effect the entire defensive scheme. The presence of Larry and Andre is what allows the workhorse to do his job. He'll never get open without the stud sucking up the D to his side of the field.

and so, for that reason alone, I prefer the star (although I love and value the workhorse), because the workhorse cannot exist without the star, but not the other way around.

I know I prefer Floyd over Blackmon. When he gets to the pros, I believe you will see Blackmon struggle vs press coverage because of his size, and struggle with creating seperation. That is not to mean he won't be effective, I just can't see him being a star in the league.

Don't get too used to it. One of them will be traded in three years for an overratated third string QB. :)

I think you are right, Chopper, although one of the knocks on Floyd is that he can't seperate from defenders. I think he can, but that's the word on the street.

I thought it was interesting that Russ Lande would say, that Floyd is the best receiver in the draft to go over the middle. Obviously, he has shown that at Notre Dame, but I thought some of the other receiver had shown it as well. I just think, that since Boldin went to Baltimore, the team has missed that aspect.

I don't think Floyd will be there when the Cardinals are on the clock, but if he is I do believe he could easily be the pick. I mean, they wanted both Dez Bryant and A.J. Green, and since then they haven't upgraded the position in a big way.

I would be ecstatic if Floyd went early and Blackmon dropped to 13. Absolutely ecstatic. His performance in the Fiesta Bowl was one of the most dominant I've seen from a college WR in a long time. His measurables are getting picked apart, but the guy is a serious player.

His ability is phenomenal, but what I love even more is his attitude. He really is "Q" type when it comes to how he plays the game. He's pretty intimidating for a small wide receiver because of how much he loves to get physical. It's something we've missed on offense since "Q" got traded.

Here are other 1st round wide receivers who were taken in the first round and were under 6'1" since 2002.

Donte Stallworth
Lee Evans
Santonio Holmes
Ted Ginn Jr. (the only drafted in the top 10)
Jeremy Maclin
Percy Harvin

I think that Blackmon is a more difficult evaluation because he's like Michael Crabtree--incredibly productive, but in a gimmick offense and a league that doesn't play defense very well. I think that, like Crabtree, Blackmon can be a very good complementary receiver, but I'm not sure he's going to be a #1 that dictates defensive schemes.

You left a couple names off of your list.

Hakeem Nicks
Roddy White

If you go back another year, you can add Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss. All of the players you listed are also smaller speed receivers with return skills who weighed under 200 lbs at the time of their draft. Some of them well under. Blackmon is listed anywhere from 207-215. He's a different animal.

Additionally, 14 of the top 20 leaders in receptions last year are under 6"2". I think Blackmon could join them next year or the year after.

More likely, both will be gone by #13. If Floyd went first, Blackmon would be more likely to go earlier than if the situation was reversed and Blackmon went first.

So, if Blackmon isn’t a true number one, who is? Simple answer is Michael Floyd. He is a monster at 6-3 and 220 pounds with a 4.4 range forty time. He has massive hands and excels going over the middle. He will deliver a hit before a defensive back can get a good one on him, and that means that his run after the catch has potential to be explosive. There are questions about him off the field, but it appears that those have been answered by most teams. Someone in the know I trust told me “those are over now. He’s a good kid and I hope he doesn’t slide.” However, that’s exactly what Floyd may do. Projecting him to Jacksonville makes a ton of sense and I could see someone moving to take him. I also know that Arizona could use another weapon at 13. Beyond that, you could easily make an argument that he slides down to the mid 20s. it is not an indictment on his ability, character, or football makeup so much as it is about need and value. Potential Destinations: Cleveland, Jacksonville, Arizona, Buffalo, Seattle, Houston, NY Jets.

Look for the NYJ to make a push for Seattle's pick ahead of us, if he falls that far.

And barring that, maybe try to trade with us. Assuming we'd normally keep the pick & take Floyd, what would the Jets have to offer to get our attention?

I've heard they're looking at moving into the top 10. And they said it isn't for Ingram, so I'm guessing Floyd.

If they traded with us we'd only get their 1st (16) and a third I'm sure.

I don't think Blackmon is a true number 1 either, but he would excel much like Boldin complimenting a WR like Fitzgerald along the lines you stated. I will say this from my own view of watching Blackmon and Crabtree both play in college, Crabtree is nowhere near the tough, athletic WR that Blackmon is
