Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada has told the team he's actually 33, two years older than he's listed in the club's media guide and other baseball records. Tejada, saying he wanted rid himself of a burden, approached general manager Ed Wade and asked to correct misinformation he gave the Oakland A's when he signed in 1993, the Houston Chronicle reported on its Web site Thursday.

Yeah, I am 33, yeah that is the ticket. Sorry, I must have misremembered. Yeah, that is it. Yeah, and you know that steroid thing? I didn't do it. Yeah, that is right. I got a B12 shot. Yeah...

They should reduce his contract by two years.

Supposedly that's pretty widespread with Latin players they lie to be younger when they first sign. Ages ago the Cards had this guy named David Green they got from Milwaukee, he was from Nicaragua and when he made the majors he was 21 but looked more like 28. I know for years people said he was 16 when he signed with the Brewers and "5 years earlier when we scouted him the first time he was 16 then too."

I think it's getting harder and harder to pull it off but I would be surprised if Tejada is the only one.
