Tell me why an offensive lineman was standing like an open receiver in the end zone two yards behind the quarterback?
This is not to try to justify McCown's absolutely stupid pass, but it would seem to the that lineman (was it Shelton, supposedly one of our best) sure wasn't doing his job either.
If McCown was stupid enough to have thrown the ball, he should have thrown it as hard as he could. Maybe that would have helped Shelton focus on what his job was.

Because the DE on that side I believe was doing a speed rush, trying to run past the tackle and get the QB from behind. The tackle must stay with him therefore ending up sometimes behind the QB.

just an FYI...mccown said after the game that he though shipp had slipped out of the backfield to where shelton was standing..and he saw a white jersey out of the corner of his eye - and thought it was shipp..as he let go of the ball - he realized it was someone alot bigger than shipp - too late though....so he thought he was tossing it to marcel...

does not answer your question on LJ.....just thought I would point out what was said in the paper.

Part of my question was "why was he (LJ) standing there like an open receiver?" If he (LJ) was supposed to be blocking a speed rush, where was the guy doing the rushing? The rusher obviously either got around LJ or slipped inside him. Either way, it would appear that Shelton screwed up.
