Terrence Jones to UW

Not a huge surprise. He couldn't remember what team the white hat was(UCLA) and what Calipari's name was, and he thanked UO and coach Kent but never mentioned Dana Altman.

he and Ross had been saying for 4 years they wanted to play together in college and they are both going to UW. Probably makes UW the favorite in the conference next year if they weren't already.

Gotta give it to Calipari he won't take no for an answer. After the press conference he called Terrence JOnes and told him "you hurt thousands of people just as you made some happy." His mom says Terrence is now conflicted and as a result hasn't signed his LOI to UW and is considering UW or Kentucky.

I guess if you literally don't care about anything but getting the player that's a good strategy. Meanwhile UK's Brandon Knight elected to not sign an LOI himself, he accepted a grant in aid the idea being if something happened at UK(probation, Calipari taking a pro job to coach LeBron) he can get out without needing his release.

I would much rather have TJ at UW and face him twice next year, just so Cal must accept defeat in a recruiting battle.

Agreed. At the PC Jones mom talked about academics and how TJ had worked hard to get his in order and going forward that was a factor. I know all kids say that on signing day but seeing as UK's team GPA was 2.025 first semester and will be lower 2nd semester(since several freshman have already left UK to prepare for the draft), I think if I were his mom I would tell him go to UW.

With CJ Leslie committing to NC State today, I can see why Cal is forcing the issue with Jones, he needs to fill roster spots, that's the gamble you take when recruiting 1 and dones, you better be able to get these guys every year, hurts when your whole roster is one and dones and you have to scramble to replace them in the spring by trying to poach kids. Stay classy Cal!

Just to update, Jones shocked UW yesterday by signing a scholarship agreement with ... Kentucky. By doing so he's free to leave UK for another school should Calipari take an NBA job, but for now UK has him.

Calipari sure filled the holes on the roster having signed Eloy Vargas and now Jones.
