And the comment by the guy stating Andre as the #1 in the NFL and Fitz #2 was quite amusing as well!

I don't think either of those two comments (about A. Smith having a big game and Fitz being the second best WR in the NFL) are outlandish. They may or may not be true, but they're not so far out of the realm of possibility that they're not worth talking about.

Well if your going to compare your star WR to ours and say yours is number #1 in the league when he has accomplished what in his career? Fitz has set NFL records post season already and PROVEN he is a #1 in the NFL! When has Johnson done anything but be the best on a bad team most of his career?

Aeneas Williams disagrees with this train of thought. Right now I'll take Fitz over any other active WR but don't short change Johnson based on most of the other 52 players on his team not being up to snuff.

Are you serious?? I would say:

- Led the NFL in receptions in '06 and '08
- Led the NFL in yards in '08
- Led the NFL in Yards per Game in '07
- Pro Bowl in '04, '06 and '08

is doing MUCH more than being the best on a bad team...

Yup. Johnson's a sicko.

But I'll take Fitz. I get the argument but give me the guy who has done it on the biggest stage (playoffs) 10 times out of 10.

As well they should. Every team should fear our passing game!

I just wish teams would fear our running game just a little bit...... :bang:

Well, when the opposition can rush three, drop eight and still get pressure on the QB, then I would be worries about our passing game.

Exactly he is the BEST player on their team of course they are going to throw him the ball over and over and over. Without question he is a great receiver but his numbers are hugely inflated because he gets the most touches on the team! Not saying he is not great I would love to have him as a matter of fact I would take him over Boldin and put him and Fitz out there together that would be the best duo in the league!

As opposed to now where we already have the best duo in the league???

I agree I think we do DCR but then again Boldin is always HURT! Never know but his history suggests he doesn't make full seasons too much!

I really hope we torch this secondary - if Kurt gets some time to throw.

There's some great reasoning. The last time I checked Fiz and Boldin were the best players on a bad team for all of their careers minus last season. His numbers are "inflated" because he gets the most touches on his team? Owen Daniels is one of the best TE's in the league and Kevin Walter is a damn good #2 receiver, Schaub has plenty of options. Clearly all of our receivers numbers can't be "inflated" by playing on one of the most pass happy teams in the league right?

Sorry, but 187 is right. Andre has proven to be a #1 in the league. unproven would be Percy Harvin, Mario Manningham, any of the 400 recievers the lions have drafted, etc.

Sorry but you should read what was written before commenting! Clearly Johnson is a #1 in this league thats not what was said I said he is not THE #1 reciever in the league... gotta love when people come in and comment when they apparently didn't even read the thread! I said he is a great receiver and clearly the best player on their team never said he was unproven just that Fitz has proven and set NFL records WHEN THEY COUNT which puts Fitz above him in any comparison imho!

The fact that I responded to your two posts was pure coincidence, don't take it personally. I couldn't pass up the last one, because the irony in a Cardinals using the "best player on a bad team" line made me laugh. What it all comes down to is homerism. Not BLIND homerism, just supporting your team homerism. If you were a Texans fan and you watched every game Andre has played and have seen all that he is capable of, would you rate him below another (albeit great) receiver that you had barely seen play until the postseason? Probably not. Andre lead the league in receiving yards last year, it's not outlandish to rank him at 1a and Fitz at 1b. It's the same reason why Cardinals fans put Fitz at 1a and Andre at 1b. We have seen this guy play every single game in his career, compared to Andre Johnson who we all probably saw play one time last year when Houston was on Monday Night for the first time ever I believe.

As long as Fitz or Andre is considered the best WR in the league I won't have a problem with it. Both of them keep their mouths shut and do what they get paid to do: play their ass off on the field and not cause problems off of it. If Larry had Andre's breakaway speed he would probably be the unanimous #1 in the league, because that's the only real advantage AJ has over him.

We can just agree to disagree then because Larrys' accomplishments exceed that of Johnson imo because he did it when it counts in the PLAYOFFS! Many a player has had lots of numbers on bad teams doesn't make them the best. And like I said I do believe he is one of the better receivers in the league, just not as good as Fitz at this point.

I agree that Larry is the best in the league, but I can see the reasoning for Andre being put above him and it doesn't really bother me. When it comes down to it our opinions don't mean squat, as long as Larry goes out and performs that's all that matters. He needs to see more deep balls, I can't believe he's only had one shot down field from Warner so far this season. Too much dinking and dunking, but then again if the offensive line can only hold up for 2 seconds you don't have much of a choice.
