Texas A&M's (13-12, 1-6 SEC) disastrous start to the 2025 season may have taken a turn on Friday night during the program's third SEC series of the year against Kentucky, as the Aggies entered the weekend winless in conference play, and desperate to get back on track amid a season filled with hopelessness.

For the over 5,000 fans who showed up to Blue Bell Park to watch a 12-12 Aggie team, ace pitcher Ryan Prager, in unusual fashion, struggled out of the gate with five consecutive runs allowed as catcher Bear Harrison faced a 5-0 hole at the plate, signifying the start A&M's momentum swing that lasted until the final out.

Continuing his impressive performance at the plate this season, Harrison's solo home run seemed like a distant memory after the Wildcats stormed back for two more runs off of an RBI double and a flyout, taking a 7-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth. However, Harrison's impact continued, knocking in two more runs with his RBI double, leading to Wyatt Henseler's RBI in the bottom of the fifth.

For the first time in conference play, Texas A&M's offense continued to score runs, as freshman phenom Terrence Kiel produced two more runs in the fifth, which led to Gavin Kash's flyout scoring Jace LaViolette to tie the game at 7-7. The Aggies took their first lead after Kiel scored on a Kentucky throwing error, While LaViolette's sixth-inning double scored Ben Royo to make it 9-7 in the seventh frame.

However, nothing compared to pitcher Weston Moss's dynamite performance after relieving Prager, lasting six innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out six on 72 pitches.

Performances like this could help turn the season around, and for the first time since the start of the season, this talented but underperforming team showed that they have plenty of good baseball left in them, but time will tell if this was indeed the turning point.

Texas A&M will face Kentucky in Game 2 on Saturday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
