Amid the rumors regarding Texas A&M basketball head coach Buzz Williams's uncertain future after Maryland head coach Kevin Willard announced his departure to take over at Villanova, Williams and his staff have continued to reach out to players from the transfer portal over the last two weeks.

On Sunday, just hours after Willard's announcement, it was reported that Williams had contacted UCLA guard Sebastian Mack. Mack averaged 9.4 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists during the 2024-2025 season and shot 42% from the field. It's no shock that A&M is reaching out to guards who will moderate to elite production, having to replace Wade Taylor IV, Zhuric Phelps, and Manny Obaseki next season.

Coming out of the 2023 recruiting class, Mack was close to being considered a five-star prospect. He was ranked as the 66th-overall player in the cycle. Mack possesses speed and efficiency near the basket, while his 3-point shooting has been a work in progress since he arrived at UCLA. Still, Mack's best basketball is ahead of him, but until we know Buzz Williams' future plans, it's hard to predict the program's transfer portal success.
