DENVER — Texas A&M men's basketball advanced to the Round of 32 in the 2025 NCAA tournament and prepares to face a conference champion.

The No. 4 seed Aggies will play the No. 5 seed Michigan Wolverines on Saturday (4:15 p.m. CT, CBS) in Denver. The Wolverines won the Big Ten last week.

Michigan is in the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2021-2022 season. However, this is the Wolverines' seventh NCAA tournament appearance in the last 10 years, making it to the second round five out of the previous nine opportunities.

Here's what to know about the Texas A&M vs. Michigan matchup:

Michigan is another quality rebounding squad

What A&M does best is rebounding, but that skill set will be put to the test Saturday against a Michigan squad that features 7-foot bigs.

Michigan finished third in the Big Ten in combined team rebounds (38.3), fourth in offensive rebounds (10.9) and third in defensive rebounds (27.4).

The Wolverines feature two players who average more than 6.8 rebounds a game. They are led around the rim by junior center Danny Wolf, who is grabbing 9.9 per game. Center Vladislav Goldin is second in rebounds (6.8 per game) and also leads Michigan in scoring with 16.6 ppg.

All hands on deck for the Aggies

With eight graduating seniors on the roster, many of whom are making either their second or third NCAA tournament appearance, experience and depth are the Aggies' true strengths. On Thursday, A&M had 10 players take the court, getting points from nine players, with everyone playing at least six minutes versus Yale.

Guard Zhuric Phelps and forward Solomon Washington came off the bench for the first-round matchup, an unusual spot for two players who have been consistent starters throughout the year. Head coach Buzz Williams's ability to mix and match his lineup—having high-level scorers and defenders come off the bench and provide a spark—is part of what makes A&M so dangerous this time of year.

“I just want to come in and give my guys energy… We got a really great team, we play with 10 guys, it could be anybody’s day," Phelps told the American-Statesman following the win. "Me coming off the bench, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything…”

It's that attitude from the top down that could serve the Aggies well as they try and progress through the tournament.

Texas A&M vs Michigan basketball prediction: March Madness second-round

Texas A&M 71-69.

A&M handled business in round one as many had anticipated, but things will begin to get much tougher for the Aggies.

Michigan is a quality team that features 7-foot bigs who could pose matchup problems for A&M. However, A&M is dominant on the glass and a nightmare for opposing offenses on the defensive end, and the Aggies will grind out a one-possession win to advance to the Sweet 16.
