The Southeastern Conference debut for the Texas baseball team will happen a little earlier than expected.

Due to the weather forecast, it has been announced that UT's Friday game at Mississippi State will be moved up to 4 p.m. The Longhorns and Bulldogs were originally scheduled to meet at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, Miss., at 6 p.m.

This will be UT's first-ever league game as a SEC member.

For anyone wondering if @HailStateBB will play two games on Friday, they will not. The conference guidelines state that a Friday DH will only be considered if there’s an 80% chance of rain or greater for BOTH Saturday and Sunday. It also cannot be determined before 5pm Thurs. pic.twitter.com/ODq1twrJIt

This may not be the only alteration to this weekend's schedule. Forecasts also call for rain in Starkville throughout the day on Saturday. Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle explained earlier this week that if Saturday's game is postponed, UT (14-1) and Mississippi State (13-4) would play two seven-inning games on Sunday.

"It looks like if the weather doesn't change, Saturday is going to be awful tough," Schlossnagle said. "I spoke with the SEC offices yesterday. Ultimately, the call is for the home team and the SEC office has to approve everything, so the chances of us playing on Saturday look pretty slim, which means we could be playing two games on Sunday. That means two sevens. That's not in stone, but that's just what it looks like right now."

This is not the first time that weather has impacted one of the Longhorns baseball games this season. The team's home opener against Houston on Feb. 18 was cancelled by inclement weather, and Texas then had to adjust the times for two its home games against Dartmouth the following weekend.
