The Texas Longhorns women's team has been awarded a No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2025 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Committee felt the Lady Longhorns had a top four resume. The Longhorns head the Region 3 Birmingham Regional as the top seed.
The Longhorns will play the winner of No. 16 High Point and William and Mary for their first round matchup. For the second round, they could face the winner of No. 8 Illinois and No. 9 Creighton. The first two rounds for the Longhorns will be at home in Moody Center.
UT was 31-3 overall and tied with South Carolina for the regular-season SEC championship. The Horns reached the SEC tournament championship game, but fell to the Gamecocks. Texas reached No. 1 in the polls this season, the first time since 2004 in the AP poll and the first time ever in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The Longhorns are led by sophomore Madison Booker (16.2 PPG, 6.6 RPG). Booker was SEC player of the year. Rori Harmon, who missed most of the 2023-24 season with a knee injury, was Texas' top playmaker (5.9 APG).
