What really boils me about this decision is the Judge ruling in his favor because it would do "irreparable harm" to Sorsby financially.

DUH! That is the whole freaking point!

I hope this turns out the absolute worst for all involved. Sorsby is predictably mediocre, he deliberately throws a game right when he knows he's on the brink of being benched (why not?! It's clear this is now totally legal... if you can make BIG money to throw a game... why not do it?)

Texas Tech gets blackballed as an opponent (something that other schools are already working towards), kicked out of their conference and north texas gets hit by a comet.

In all seriousness. This gambling on college sports is about to get really really bad. If the players don't get punished then it's no different than the WWE, especially at the smaller schools that don't have NIL money. What is to prevent... Akron State's starting QB from deliberatly tossing 3 INTs in the first half of a game? Or just ducking games to juice the odds when he plays?

This is simply incorrect. That was why I corrected you in the first place, because you are misleading people. I don’t know if it influences people’s opinion about Sorsby, but it certainly could, and I just think that is wrong. Not everyone follows college football and the draft closely.

I don’t really care if you think he stayed in college to become better. The problem is that you state it as facts. I hope posters have found out now that it might be more complicated than that, so I will stop this back-and-forth now.
Are you saying that Stafford, Luck and Lawrence all didn't declare after their 3rd year in college? That's a fact.

NCAA rules indicate that you have to be three years post high school to be draft eligible. Also a fact.

Locker and Herbert did come out after their 4th year. Fact.

This would be Soreby's 5th year. Fact.

I guess we are disagreeing that Sorsby is good enough to be a high pick after last season. If you want me to state that it logically makes sense if you are a top draft pick to come out in a weaker draft class than a stronger one for your position group, that seems like a strange nit to pick to me.

Pete Rose continued to lie about it even though it was proven he bet on baseball while managing the Reds. Once he was broke and needed a book to sell he came clean.
And his ban from baseball itself was justified for that. I'm talking HOF here.

Cooperstown is run independently from MLB itself. It is run by a private organization. To keep things in order they do have rules and one of their rules is to prevent the induction of anyone on Major League Baseball's "permanently ineligible" list.

Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose were both on that list until 2025.

Sorsby should drop out of Texas Tech and enter the NFL Supplemental Draft before that window closes. It is crazy for him to try to play for TTU this year as the pressure will be on him for every dumb play that he makes. He will be under a nation wide microscope for every game. This won't blow over.

Embarrassing. The head coach for Texas tech should do something. He is a well respected high school football coach. Or at least was. I would resign if I were him. Clearly there are boosters or wealthy handlers that are making decisions for that program.

The whole things is playing out like a poorly written episode of Dallas ca. 1989.
oh come on...poorly written episode?? How could one even determine that??

although,..they did have an entire nation asking, "Who shot J.R.?" for three entire months!!

those guys might have known what they were doing

I really hope this next season doesn't end with the Cardinals walking into the shower and finding Jonathan Gannon in there, buck ass naked shampooing his bald head.
