Plot Summary: The hero of "Thank You for Smoking" is Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart), chief spokesman for Big Tobacco, who makes his living defending the rights of smokers and cigarette makers in today's neo-puritanical culture. Confronted by health zealots out to ban tobacco and an opportunistic senator (William H. Macy) who wants to put poison labels on cigarette packs, Nick goes on a PR offensive, spinning away the dangers of cigarettes on TV talk shows and enlisting a Hollywood super-agent (Rob Lowe) to promote smoking in movies. Nick's newfound notoriety attracts the attention of both tobacco's head honcho (Robert Duvall) and an investigative reporter for an influential Washington daily (Katie Holmes). Nick says he is just doing what it takes to pay the mortgage, but he begins to think about how his work makes him look in the eyes of his young son Joey (Cameron Bright).

This looks good. I quit smoking 1.5 weeks ago. I may have to wait until I fully kick the habit to watch this or my mind will believe the sales pitch and Ill buy a pack. :)

I heard about this on NPR. They had interviews with Aaron Eckart and the director--Ivan Riechman's son, I think. Sounds like a good flick. "Not so much about smoking as it is about a guy who likes to talk," is a quote from Riechman(or something like that).

Wow...we saw this on Saturday...a great, great movie...clever, hilarious...well done...

The writing was superb and fresh...it was a satire and it just worked. Eckhart was perfect, and the supporting cast just great.

Highly recommended....

I do have to say that Rob Lowe was classic in that movie. Especially when he was in that Japanese costume.
