I know it's a neccessity to get Quentin and Drew into the starting lineup daily, and noone was calling for the youth movement more than me.

However, now that we've reached the end of the line for each of these two gentlemen's respective careers in Phoenix, I wanted to take this time to thank both for their respective contributions to not just the Diamondback franchise but the Phoenix community and the state of Arizona.

Seeing this current moment, where both were pulled out is quite honestly one of the most emotional moments I've witnessed. Both deserve the accolaydes they get, and as was said on the broadcast, whatever they were paid, both men earned every penny of it.

Farewell my friends, and thank you...... for the memories!

It's time -- no question -- but Gonzo's 30-game hitting streak is what really got me to know this team well, Counsell has always been one of the players I respect the most in the whole game, and this is a well-deserved honor. Very emotional. Maybe goodby to Miggy, too -- Bell will be gone -- and goodbye to purple. So long to the last ties to the 2001 World Series Diamondbacks. You guys were really great -- that was one of the best experiences of my life.

Goodbye to the Diamondbacks we have grown to know and the things we have grown to know about the team. Next year is a new beggining and I guess we will see whether its a good thing or not. Goodbye uniforms, Gonzo and CC and Welcome in Red black, white, grey and the young guns.

Sometimes change is a good thing, however it's always hard to say goodbye to the past, especially ones who have meant as much to our team/city/state as Gonzo and Counsell have.

Definitely looking forward to the red, black, white and grey, and the snake head logo, and the young guns (Drew, Quentin, CoJack) however there's no forgetting the contributions each made!

It would've been nice if the young guys could've finished off that rally at the end but nonetheless it was a great game. Very emotional. I was also calling for a youth movement but Gonzo and Counsell will really be missed. With the president leaving also and no more purple this is the end of a great era, but it's time for the Baby Bax to shine.

My wife and I were couch potatoes on Sunday to watch the farewell to my favorite Diamondback Craig Counsell, the most popular D'back ever Luis Gonzalez, and the rest of the departed or departing from beginning to end.

What an emotional experience!

The only downer was when Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick came into the TV booth and, instead of doing the decent thing, apologizing for starting Gonzo/steroid rumors as a ploy to move him out . . .

. . . said that it's too bad that his comments about "someone" were mis-interpreted. If he did apologize to Gonzo behind the scenes (and who knows how sincere that apology was), he also owed it to us, the fans, to give a sincere apology.

"Someone". "Misinterpreted". Disgusting.

So now we start a new chapter -- Kendrick's chapter. Hold on, everyone!

Good luck to both guys, I hope they can latch on somewhere. I hope Gonzo can get get to 3K hits, but to do so, he'd have to play just a bit over 4 more years getting 150 hits each year. I suppose its doable, but it will be tough.

^I think that songs been a little over used, but it was nice. That song is actually about Greenday sort of telling the punks in northern California they grew up with "see ya, f*** off, stop calling us sell outs." So I think its weird when people use it for happy/nostalgic stuff. Its like playing "Ill be watching you" at a wedding (a song about Sting stalking his ex wife)

Bottom of the Ninth, two outs, game tied 2-2. Luis Gonzales has to face the best closer in the game, possibly the best in history. He gets a hit... HE GETS A HIT!!!! That single moment solidified Gonzo's star appeal for me, he could never do any wrong again.... HE GOT THE HIT! HE DELIVERED!

btw, same goes for Mark Grace and Tony Wolmak in the same inning - clutch!

I heard Gonzo during the radio broadcast saturday (Padres vs. Cardinals). He said that if you were to ask anyone in the dugout during Oct 2001 who was their most valuable player, everyone would have said CC... that's a pretty big compliment to pay a player on national radio.

Indeed thank you Gonzo and Counsell but especially Gonzo for getting the winning hit vs the Yankess in the world series that was indeed a great day. Gonzo will never be replaced by what he could do on and off the field :)
