The FOX guys had no idea why Whiz was arguing it should be 2nd down after the Sherman penalty and Kolb sack (declined). Here's what I think happened. Am I wrong?

After Williams rushed for 9 yards on the 1st and 10, Sherman was called for a 15 yard dead-ball penalty. Shouldn't it have then been 2nd and 16, not 1st and 16? I ask because FOX showed it as 1st and 16 - but I don't know what it said on the field.

Since it was 1st and 16 - not 2nd down - the holding call on the Kolb sack was declined by Reid. I think Reid thought it was 2nd and 16, therefore it would have been 3rd and 24. (You could see him yelling for 3rd down). They ruled it third down, but then Whiz argued it was 2nd down, and won.

So in the end, I think the ref's ruling after the sack was correct, however, I only think that happened because they screwed up by making it 1st and 16 after the Sherman penalty.

Then again, the field markers may have said 2nd down after the Sherman penalty and then my whole point is moot.

Anyway ... yeah, back to the game :)
