The first one to Lockett and then the one to Swain, we've been doing that all season. They're very similar to the play the Vikings scored their first TD on way back in the beginning. All season we've had that same issue of people not knowing who is responsible for what on those plays. The first one it appears to be on Borders, the 2nd one based on reactions was Simmons fault he went inside with Metcalf as did Hamilton. Simmons apparently thought they were going to switch receivers and Hamilton stayed with his man, based on the reaction from everyone I'm guessing simmons was wrong. on the one to Lockett they have 3 guys on that side and we have Borders outside and Murphy inside. Murphy takes the outside guy who hooks in, and Borders takes the middle guy and Lockett just runs over to the right and the only guy close is Thompson who's the deep safety. I suppose it's possible it's on Jalen but again based on reactions it appears it was on Borders.

They really have to figure that out the Rams run combo routes like that all the time to get Kupp open we have to figure out are we switching or not because it's been killing us all seasn

There was an obvious mix-up but somehow doubt that Simmons was responsible for the outside receiver.

I don't know on that one he was covering swain and Hamilton had Metcalf. When Metcalf cut in, Simmons came off Swain to go to Metcalf apparently thinking Hamilton would come off Metcalf to go to Swain. You can see Metcalf hold his hand up right away because he knew right away it's a TD because both guys went to him. Based on their reactions I'm assuming it was Simmons but it could have been Hamilton.

I'm still confused as to why that covegage failure is Simmons fault. Shouldn't the ontop man cover the man going deep and the shallow man cover the man going shallow?

Almost always unless there is dedicated over the top help from a safety. Either way though, I don't see it how it would be Simmons, unless they were playing a weird zone.

I don't know on that one but I will say based on how they reacted after the play it seemed like he was the one at fault. There wasn't really a shallow and deep on the Swain one they both lined up the same Swain on the inside and DK on the outside, Metcalf cut in to the right, and Swain looped behind him almost a wheel route. you can see Metcalf like the 2nd step Simmons takes inside DK is already turning and raising his hand because he knows it's a TD. I think it was Budda that was saying something to Simmons and you could see that Hamilton was surprised Simmons didn't stay with Swain. Even the way Simmons quickly said oh crap and turned and tried to run to Swain like he realized he'd messed up but maybe he just saw him open and tried to get there to help.

It goes back to confusion, the first one there was some switching going on as they crossed, but Borders jumped the short route and left the guy open behind him like he thought Thompson was going to be there but Jalen was much deeper and had to come a long way to get there.

I don't know it's clear it was zone, Hamilton was in Man he just stayed with his man. If it was zone then hamilton was to blame. If it was man, then Simmons was. The replays of it largely only show that side so hard to know what it was.
