I really like Edie Falco for "The Sopranos". If you think back to her performances while Tony was in his coma, she should win hands down.

Helen Mirren had a great year.

I didn't know Eastwood's Japanese film was alread released. Thought it was coming later. Can't wait to see it.

“Stranger Than Fiction” was not nominated for best picture, director or screenplay and “Little Miss Sunshine” was not nominated for best director or screenplay? Bummer! I thought those were pretty brilliant films. I guess I need to get out and see more of the other films that were nominated. I just can’t seem to drag myself to films like “The Queen,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Little Children.”

Babel should win Best Picture/Director in a walk. If The Departed wins for either Best Picture/Director I will vomit - it will be akin to giving Marty a makeup call for all the awards he SHOULD HAVE won - in no way does that movie merit any awards IMO. Very entertaining and well done, but not award worthy.

overall, it was a really good year for SOLID movies, but pretty weak for just flat out breathtaking cinema, save for Babel.
