The 16-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the American League Division Series featured a triumvirate of horror that left Yankee Stadium a quarter-full by the end of the seventh inning, lest any of those exiting early further imbibe in the self-immolation of a 100-win team. About 24 hours earlier, Red Sox manager Alex Cora texted Brock Holt to let him know he would be starting the third game of a best-of-five series that was tied at a game apiece.
