Now that the regular season is over, it's time to hand out the "Brucie" awards to the team:

Offensive MVP: The Red Kangol goes to Jared Veldheer. He played very well to exceptional in every game. He could arguably be the #1 free agent signing in the entire NFL this past off season.

Defensive MVP: The Kangol goes to.........Antonio Cromartie. Sure he could tackle a little better but, other than the Denver game, he was lights out in coverage and the teams best defensive player. CC was a close second.

Special Teams MVP: And the Red Kangol goes to, Chandler Catanzaro. He was overall very good on his kickoff's and, other than a mini slump, was as reliable as kicker the Cards have had in a while.

Most Improved Offensive Player: This was a tough one but the Kangol goes to Bobby Massie. He couldn't get on the field last year and this year he played very solid at RT. Other than a few sacks allowed to the likes of Von Miller, Massie really upped his game.

Most Improved Defensive Player: Easy choice, the Kangol goes to Alex Okafor. Once healthy, he became what looks like a pass rushing fixture from the SOLB position.

Rookie MVP: Easy choice, the Red Kangol goes to John Brown. He had his rookie moments but he also impacted many games and has a very bright future.

Play of the Year: Speaking of John Brown, he was involved in the play of the year. I happened to be in attendance for this play and it was one of the best games I have ever been to:

Conversely with Brucies, on the other side of things we have the Roddy's, (in honor of our past GM).

Most Disappointing Offensive Player: He had nice games in spurts, including today's, but his overall play this year was disappointing. For that, the Golden Snail goes to Michael Floyd.

Most Disappointing Defensive Player: This was tough one because the defense in general played very well. The player who wins the Snail is Sam Acho. He only had 32 tackles and 1 sack on the year which needs improved upon greatly.

Most Disappointing ST Player: For this award, we had to give out dual Golden Snails but the choices were easy because they were both equally bad. The snails go to....Ted Ginn and Drew Butler. Both need replaced next year.

Least Improved Offensive Player: In the past you could just call this the Rob Housler award but this year he has been replaced, and the Golden Snail is awarded to Johnathon Cooper. The former #1 pick better get in shape and step up his game next year.

Least Improved Defensive Player: In honor of his relentless beating upon the player, the Golden K9 goes to Kevin Minter. Minter and Cooper are making Keim's first 2 picks look very questionable. However, that's more on the players than Keim.

Non-MVP Rookie: Also an easy choice. The Golden Snail goes to Troy Niklas. He was either hurt or ineffective the entire season. It's could be disconcerting that 3 of Keim's first 4 picks are on this side of the awards but it's still early for all of them.

Dud Play of the Year: This play effectively ended any chances the Cards had at hosting the Super Bowl:

The Golden Snail, lol.

Most are spot on, but I can't agree with Cromartie over CC. Also, am I allowed to vote Housler over (under?) Michael Floyd?

Actually, you could give it to the whole TE position. Fells showed some promise late but the position really disappointed this year, at least in the passing game.

He'll get plenty of chances next year, especially with Housler gone. We'll see if he can make it happen.

I hope he turns out great and will absolutely give him a chance.

However, he was the most disappointing rookie, although it was largely because of injury. Bucannon, Brown, Martin, and Stinson all had more impact than Niklas. LT wasn't expected to play but we knew that going in.

I might argue Kareem Martin because he was healthy and inactive after a short stretch. At least Niklas was pushing for snaps before he went to the IR.

I'd argue that the Defensive MVP should either go to Calais Campbell (leadership, production, toughness), Dan Williams (production, consistency, availability), or Alex Okafor (bringing the one thing the defense needed most of all) over Cromartie.

If only because Cromartie's lows were so very low in the Denver game and whenever he was isolated on a runningback.

I take Campbell, Williams or Foote on D over Cro. Actually Cro pissed me off quite a bit this year.
