After reading this:
A team source tells ESPN Cleveland that Browns president Joe Banner told Colt McCoy just over a week ago that McCoy is "in the next head coach's plans."

As ESPN Cleveland's Will Burge notes, it's "pretty obvious" the Browns knew they were going to land Chip Kelly, well ahead of Thursday's Fiesta Bowl. NFL Network's Mike Lombardi is tentatively expected to be Kelly's GM, and Sirius XM Radio's Adam Caplan reported Friday that Lombardi has already been involved in Cleveland's free agency research. Lombardi is not a believer in Brandon Weeden or McCoy, so expect another Browns offseason of turnover at quarterback.

Would you take Weeden at QB?

Throwing to Josh Gordon and.........nobody else.........he still racked up 3300+ yards and tossed 14 TD.

He did only have a QB rating of 72.6 and threw for 17 INT.

I have no doubt Colt can be had for a 5th & I think he's a solid-good NFL starter and you can defiantly win with him. If I was Ray Horton & would make that move ASAP.

No. Absolutely not. A 30 year old developmental QB. That was possibly the stupidest 1st round pick I have ever seen.

I would take him.

His stats are a little off - remember that 1st game where he threw 4-5 INT's in his debut game?

He really hasn't been that bad this year. They've asked him to throw a lot and he's made some clutch passes. Like someone else said, his WR's dropped a LOT of passes this year.

Personally I'd take him over any of the other QB's coming out this year, which is more of an indictment on how poor the QB class is this year.

You guys are insane. Dude literally had nothing to throw to. What are the other options? Colt McCoy? Hell no. Alex Smith? Maybe.

You guys must not have seen much of Weeden at OkSt.

A defiant win is cool but any win is cool.

Both Weeden and McCoy are unfortunate enough to be on a team that is offensively weak, at a time when team's don't give young qbs a chance to mature. They throw you under the bus in one season or less. That is just ridiculous. Qbs should have 3 yrs to grow with the team. I believe that if you switched the successful rookie qbs on solid teams with good offenses around them with the rookies who are on the bad teams, you would see a reverse in stats from both groups. What is say the Cowboys would have had the same mentality as that when Aikman was a rookie. I am sure you think of many more who would have been out of the league quickly if not given enough time to grow with their team.

I'm not saying I would or I wouldn't but in most years his numbers would look pretty decent for a rookie QB.

IF the Browns flat out cut him I wouldnt mind if we brought him in and let him fight with a couple different guys for the starting job. But there is not a chance I would give up aaaaaanything to trade for him. I have no expectation of him ever being a quality QB and its really hard to picture a lot of upside given his age. You cant put him in the same perspective as a regular rookie. You dont have a few years to develop this guy, he is only about 5 years from the age most NFL players retire!

One must understand this, on average a 38 year old man who works out is in pretty good condition and not in the least falling apart at the seam. These guys who reach their late 30s in the NFL are old beyond their age because of the football hits they have taken early to a large extent. Weeden has taken as many hits on average as the other guys and started late, it is not like he was playing extra football because of his age in comparison to other QBs younger. So I would not see his age as a huge factor.

I'd take him in a heart beat. I wouldn't plan my future around him by any stretch of the imagination, but if it would only cost a 6th or 7th round pick, I'd take him.

I think we've found out that having a semi-competent backup, and even 3rd, QB is important. Weeden is definitely capable a being an above average backup for the next 7-8 years.

Yes, as a solid backup. For a sixth or seventh round pick...sure.

I would absolutely take him for a 6th or 7th rounder. You would get a serviceable backup at the least. After watching the Skelton and Lindley debacle we need better QBs
