Owings is a good guy, but he is a very weak hitter who can play various positions.

That is just more positions his hitting can be a back hole at.

Maybe they plan on re-signing Buchholtz or going to go after a cheap veteran. Duplantier and Widener would be last resort options for Opening Day but I assume they could be brought up at some point during the season.
