Since there seems to be a lot of debate as to Marion's worth, it makes some sense comparing him, at least in terms of how he fits with this team, to other wing players who have at least been mentioned in some trade rumours.

We've already done this with Vince Carter, Ray Allen and Ron Artest. So, without much furtherr ado...

Odom is good but I think he is a big system guy and might not work with a big star player like Kobe or Shaq.

Offensively they are very similar, but I chose Marion because he is terrific defensively. He allways guards the best player on the floor, and usually creates a missmatch to his advantage.

I dont think people feel Marion is'nt worth much. We just know his contract is to much.

If you compair Marions stats to ANY other SF's, IMO he is by far the best player. His steals, blocks, & rebounding are huge for a SF. He is also a "garbage man", which makes him even more valuable since we dont need to run special plays for him to score.

It's hard for me to swallow the amount of his contract, but with the right players around him, I think he is a perfect SF.

I dont want to trade Marion, but this team will never go anywhere if they dont get a solid center. If the right deal was out there I would have to pull the trigger even though I feel Marion is a special player.

So, unless people can find a scenario where a team under the cap is willing to trade for him, or a team with a good, cheap player and a big expiring contract, then what's the point of all this Marion trade speculation?

Odom might be more talented but I'd take Marion because Odom seems to have some offcourt problems. At least when he was in LA.
However Odom's contract is smaller I think so I'd be open to swapping Marion for Odom.

On this team I would rather have Shawn Marion, but I still believe that Odom's value around the NBA is higher. I think Shawn Marion is going to have a better season next year.

I expect big things from Marion because I think he will benefit a lot from playing with Nash. Getting passes while moving will be a novel concept.
