With the departures of Cucho Hernández and Christian Ramirez in the offseason, scoring onus was always going to fall on Diego Rossi in Columbus, and boy did he step up against DC United on Saturday.

Stat of the day

Of course we had to mention the magic man. Messi marked his return in style, and made more history in the process.

With his second-half goal against Philadelphia, @InterMiamiCF forward Lionel Messi (43 goal contributions) tied Gonzalo Higuaín for the most goal contributions in club history. pic.twitter.com/tbrTEeIJb4

What this means

Inter Miami are the big winners of the weekend so far. Their win over Philadelphia means they've moved into first place in the Eastern Conference, and tied for first in the Supporters Shield standings.

Meanwhile, things just keep getting worse for the LA Galaxy. The reigning champs have now failed to win any of their opening six matches.
