I know this year has been a big disappointment but it is nice to see the team improving somewhat the last few weeks. Almost every team goes thru a horrible year and I think the Diamondbacks will be better next year. With all the young players on the team and in the minors, the future looks much better than the present.

Pitching should be the #1 priority in the offseason. I like Aquino and if Valverde can come back from his injuries, the bullpen will be better. Randy and Webb will be #1 and #2 with 3 thru 5 up for grabs. Get a quality 3 and 4 in the offseason and hope someone like Gosling can break through.

I know it's a foregone conclusion on this board that Al Pedrique will not be Manager next season.

Al himself has quoted that he didn't expect to be a Major League manager for another 4 or 5 years. And that he would be happy to stay with the organization in some other capacity.

How about Bench Coach? The steady, motivating influence backing up a more flambuoyant Manager.

Al walked into a promotion from which, I suspect, he knew he could not come out looking good to the fans.

But his leadership had made a dysfunctional team, weak on communications within the organization, into a steady (there's that word again) group.

Can you believe that Mike Fetters actually earned a save today?

I say good riddance to Al. I would rather have Brenly than Al and I'm not a Brenly fan.

He was the best third base coach we've ever had. Let him do that. Anything more is Peter Principle to the max.

Not bench coach - and my reason is that he is as bad as BB ever was at having favorites and I think the way he is protecting Cintron and publically humiliating Hairston - although I have always said Hairston's defense made him unlikely to be our future 2nd-baseman - suggests he is not the communicator we'd hoped. (Nor does he have a frigging clue what he's doing on the field, so he'd be more a liability than an asset to a manager.)
