The Expendables 2

Release Date: August 17, 2012
Studio: Lionsgate
Director: Simon West
Screenwriter: Sylvester Stallone
Genre: Action
MPAA Rating: R (for strong violence, language and brief sexuality)
Website: TheExpendables2film.com | Facebook

Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger

Plot Summary: The Expendables are back and this time it's personal...

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time - six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother.

That is done the Expendables way....

I disagree that it was better than the first one, but still a rollicking good action flick. The cheese factor was way higher, but it was fun as hell...especially the one Sly/Norris exchange. I'll leave that as a tease ;)

I wanted the first to be a throwback to their films of the 80s, but it wasn't at all. Just your standard action movie.

THIS one actually was more of a throwback which made it better. Plus, it was directed by a better directOr than Sly, and you could really tell.

Got kinda shaky there for a minute thought maybe it was a Naked Gun cliche thing going on..

But what I expected overall.. Loved it

I finally watched this last night, nothing special but much better than the first one IMO. Chuck Norris role was great, too bad it was so short. OTOH, that might be part of why it was such a great role. I didn't think the first one was good enough to warrant a sequel but this one comes much closer to justifying franchise attention. I'm almost looking forward to The Expendables 3.

Expendables 3 is adding Nicholas Cage, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Steven Seagal, Milla Jovavich and Mel Gibson as the villain. Oh, and they brought Mickey Rourke back.

The only thing I'm hoping for in this one is more Jet Li. That's it.

EDIT: My bad, looks like there is a lot of rumors flying around, especially about Nicholas Cage and Steven Seagal. Everyone else appears to be in the movie.

Yeah watching Ex2 made me think they were holding strictly to the "no more than one Asian on screen at a time" rule. When Willis tells Sly that he's going to attach a female to his group I must admit I jumped to the Michelle Yeoh conclusion but Nan Yu was a nice addition anyway. Still, I want more Jet Li and maybe a little less Dolph.

He'd have a pretty easy time of it, no doubt. But, make him Chuck's age (73) and I'd put my money on Norris.

I recently watched it. I was an action movie junkie growing up in the 80s so these films are awesome to watch. This one in particular was so fun because of all the tongue-in-cheek references.
