I must say a very very good movie. The acting in this movie was superb all the way around. Extremely funny. The entire theatre was hysterically LOL.

Luke Wilson is just outrageous.

Rachael McAdams Is always nice to look at!

Everyone else is great too!

Mike you will love it!

Wow, have to disagree with you, Shane. Acting was for the most part good (Everett stunk), and McAdams was hot, of course. The beginning of the movie through the middle was unenjoyable, but I felt it was purposefully uncomfortable in order to set up the rest of the film, so I gave it a chance. Instead of following through, it jumped instead into a lovey-dovey piece of crap. Yes, everything fits into cookie-cutter molds  Oh well, at least it does in THIS movie. And it had one of those really stupid moments in the movie where they're trying to surprise you, but you know it's coming, and so it's just...well, stupid.

1 thumb down, and one sideways.

What exactly were you expecting? It was a romantic comedy. It was meant to be "lovey dovey" as you put it.

Why is it, if something is simply a "romantic comedy", an audience can settle for just "lovey dovey"? A romantic comedy, if done right, can still be a good movie, i.e. Sliding Doors and Love Actually.

The Family Stone didn't seem to be a romantic comedy to me, nor did it really fit any type of movie genre. It was incredibly tragic and mean in places, it gave me a chuckle or two in others, it was quite sappy in other places, and it was just flat and bland in others. Put it together and you have, well, crap ;)

lol, I assume you meant me there...

And yeah, I did love it :)

Rachel McAdams is beautiful...and it was really nice to see Claire Danes in a movie again...she is so underated and just not seen much.

Good movie, a lot of stories going on...and I think Sarah Jessica Parker played her role pretty well...

I do have to say...the conversation at the table, when she started talking about homosexuality...wow, that was UNCOMFORTABLE....I almost had to look it aware is was so hard to watch.

Good movie though...great cast.

I kind of agree with Stout on this one. It wasn't CRAP, but it was .... EH.

The whole "switch" thing just felt so forced.

I dont think it helped that I was laughing my butt off during certain scenes, but the rest of the theatre was really quiet :|

I enjoyed the acting very much (LOVE Rachel McAdams) and I definitely shed a tear or two.. or five, at the end.

very blah movie ... i was kind of looking forward to this one, because it seemed like an enjoyable, holiday comedy

instead it was all very forced and aside from the motherly issues - you knew most of the good parts from the trailer

i went with my wife and another couple and all of use where underwhelmed

I just watched it. I thought the humor was perfectly placed. They usually hit perfectly when they tried to be funny. It was a little too dramatic for my taste, but I enjoyed it in general.

Is it me or has this film been on HBO like 5 times a day every day for the past three weeks? I fell into it. It wasnt bad, but it was definitely not much more than "eh". AActing was good, agreed, but I didnt buy the swithceroo and I too feel like a romantic comedy doesnt have to end with all the pieces perfectly in place. I nearly crapped my pants when the bus stopped. I threw up a little bit right there.

We decided to rewatch this one recently. I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did the first time. I still thought the characters were interesting and it was funny at times, but you're right Kate, that switch sort of ruins it.
