Is in . . . - you guys ready for this wet dream? Ultimately what is this team missing - a dead on shooter and athletic 2 guard who has little "me" in his game but still has plenty of confidence and game to go with his humble attitude.

Now let's look back on the draft- what did we do - we took a 6-11 Kukoc type - a small forward - now why would we do that - we already have our stud small forward right? He's one of the best in the game- right? Exactly! Except the Cs know what I know- the next big shot that Shawn Marion makes will be his first - Shawn's mental toughness has always been suspect in my eyes and even though he's a great player - as our triplet in the future on a championship basketball team - he ain't the guy - but they have a replacement - a 6-11 kid who can do it all within a couple years - they not only get bigger and have a front line of 6-11 and 6-10 - but both guys are athletic monsters and have completely different games - perfect forward combo. Then you have our beloved "potential" bursting shooting guard - he's part of the package as well - and then you have either ours or Cleveland's first round pick and what do you offer Shawn, the Puppy dog and a pick for . . . Ray Allen.

Just imagine a team that looks like this:

Steph
Ray Allen
Zarko
Amare
Jahidi/Voskhul/Williams

That team can defend, it can shoot the lights out and it can out athelticize almost anyone in the league - Allen is also a money player - not afraid of the last shot - and he can create his own shot - Now why would Seattle do this? Well in Ray's absence that kid they got going right now has been awesome as has Rashard Lewis - and maybe they don't want to pay Ray another huge contract - this is mostly a pipe dream because why would they get rid of one swing player in Ray for another in Marion when Ray is so much better than Marion and JJ combined - but I can dream can't I? Ray Allen or a play like him is the missign piece of this puzzle - somehow, someway - Marion is gonna be the chip used to get that guy.

What makes you think that Seattle would trade Ray Allen for Shawn Marion when they already have an athletic small forward in Rashard Lewis?

they won't - that's why it's my Suns wet dream - maybe it has to be a three way deal with someone else - somehow - they have to pry Ray Allen or a comparable player out of someone's hands.

BTW - when are we gonna have that SoCal Suns get together?

That's a very good question. I guess I'm not too good at setting stuff up. Maybe after the holidays we can try to get something going.

As for your trade idea, I would definitely be intrigued--Ray Allen at the shooting guard spot for us would be amazing, but I just am not sure Z would be ready enough for starters duty this year.

yeah - that trade is more for the future anyway - like next year or whenever Ray's contract comes up.

Depends on Murray

Murray was fantanstic playing in place of Ray Allen, but his performance has dropped over the last four (or so) games so I doubt they would give up Allen.

Realistically, the Suns problem is not that need another guard. Against the Pacers we finally got a chance to see why the team traded for Barbosa. This kid could be in the mix before the end of the season.

What the Suns need is heigth. O'Neal and Harrington just killed the Suns who are just not tall enough to stop them. I'm hoping Carbakapa can develop into a shot blocker (he has the wing span of someone 7'1", but he is pretty light to be an inside player). The rest of the team is short:

Voskuhl - 6'11" (not very long arms not much of a jumper)
Williams - 6'10" (ditto)
White - 6'9" (longer arms than Jake and Scott, but minmal leaping)
Stoudemire - 6'9" (great leaper)
Marion 6'8" (great leaper)
Johnson 6'8" (moderately good leaper)

If you wanted to trade Marion for a mobile 7'+ guy with long arms who can jump, I would go for it even if he can't score. I'm not holding my breath.

I agreed George. The Phoenix Suns do need some height against these long, athletic teams. However they also desperately need a consistent shooter. It's probably been the top need of the Phoenix Suns for five or six seasons now. That would take a lot of pressure off Marbury and open up the middle for his drives and Amare Stoudemire's inside game.

SCREW RAY ALLEN. What the suns need is T-Mac. I think you trade Marion and a first rounder for T-mac. He is the two gaurd we need and zarko an play the small fwd spot. That or you could even go small ball with a guy like t-mac and play penny or jj at the 2. Ray Allen isn't leaving Seattle for an inner division foe. Nice try though. DREAMIN' IS FREE.

T-Mac would be nice. The salaries are such that the Suns would have to include at least one other player and probably two besides Marion and not protect the draft pick from being early lottery. (Right now the Suns appear destined to get a pick in the 9-13 range).

T-Mac and Steph couldn;t co-exist - too much ego - that's why I like Ray Allen - he's great and doesn't show ego problems that we would have to deal with - although - I would trade Steph and JJ and a first rounder for T-Mac - now that would be awesome.

T-Mac
Penny/Casey/Barbosa
Zarko
Amare
THREE HEADED MONSTER

In a year or two - that teams kicks the snot out of everyone.

What about Marion, ya tradin him or playin him? You've gotta do one of the two.

BTW, that team needs a pg.

I think I like our present roster better. With our present roster, in 4 years, we'll still have a fairly young team. You'd think JJ would develop by then (or we'll have been able to pick up someone else by then).

The Suns should be able to find a hidden gem of a 2 in the draft somewhere. Its easier to do than to find a franchise type pf at #9.

Kinda funny, I have been thinking about Ray Allen for awhile now and I even mentioned him in another post using Marion as trade bait to get him.

I have to agree completely, Marion does alot of good things, but he doesnt step up and toke over a game when we need it.

Steph's ability to get to the hole, with Amare domination inside, pluss Allen's DEADLY shooting, would be a perfect combo. Not to mention Zarko creating alot of match up problems woth his size and athletic ability's.

You are right that is a dream...

I would offer Marion, a 1st, and JJ for Ray easy...

We wouldnt have any backups tho but who cares :D

I'm not sure it would be the final piece of the puzzle but what the teams needs is a real head coach. With FJ in place I'm not sure there is such a thing as a final piece and how can one judge what is missing until there is a coach with a known gameplan?
