Im guessing that Cleveland now won’t invest a first round pick in a QB after having traded away a 3rd for one. I could be wrong. That said, that’s 2 picks I’m front of us that won’t be drafting a QB, and it makes it more likely that one falls to us, since Buffalo drafts behind us.

Giants, Denver, Jets, Miami (maybe) and us.

Furthermore, if one of those teams listed signs Cousins, they’ll probably be out of the running too.

If they traded away a first or second for the value, then you would be correct. Nope, the price is high for even a backup now and Taylor is a bridge... definitely in the QB sweepstakes called the draft if one considers moving Kizer :)

I'd say it just made the cost of moving up higher. I've expected the Bills to parlay their two number ones into a draft spot ahead of the Cardinals. But prior to trading Taylor it was situational.

The Bills two number ones set the floor as to what it will take for the Cardinals to move up for one of the four quarterbacks.

At this point the Cardinals should kick the tires on Teddy Bridgewater and trade down to hopefully add another second round pick. Five picks in the first three rounds can fill a lot of holes.

In the moment they sent kizer in green bay should be clear they are going to get one, maybe at 4

I saw it differently but you bring up good points. I do see them drafting Barkley at #1 for sure, solidifying that offense. Maybe I’m just a TT fan, hence my bias.

sportznutt, I disagree. I think that the trade for Taylor (and shipping out Kizer) tells me that the Browns will definitely take a QB at #1 or #4. Just as we would (probably) treat Taylor as a bridge, the Browns would do, also. And then select a QB in the first round.

My take is with the acquisition of Taylor, the Browns will take Barkley at #1 and a QB at #4. The QB at #4 doesn't need to be an immediate starter so they can sit him and let him learn. They could even go two years without needing to play him. I think the Giants go Oline at #2 and then trade up to late in the first round to grab a RB. The Colts go defense probably an edge rusher though Oline is not out the realm of possibilities. The Broncos definitely go QB unless they sign Cousins or pick up one of the other QB names floating around as available. That's how I see the first 5 going.

They are 100% still going after a quarterback

One last thing. If I were a Browns fan, I'd expect/hope that they would pass on a QB at #1 and take him at #4, as cardpa suggests.

What's being reported is that none of the quarterbacks are the Brown's guy. But that could change before the draft.

The Giants should be going quarterback at number two. Eli Manning may be able to play a few more years, but he is not that good anymore. The Giants get $17 million in cap space next season if they cut him.

The Colts are in a great position to move down. They can trade spots with the Broncos or Jets and still get Chubb.

Alot of people think that the Browns will trade with the Bills at #4 if anyone. We're not likely to get past the Bills. Bills or Browns will pick #4.

So it could be Browns QB @ #1 and they trade #4 to Bills
Browns QB @4 and Bills still can use their 2 1st rounders and more to trade up in front of us (because they HAVE to get a QB like us).

Any of Cle, NYG, Colts, Broncos, Jets, Dolphins, Bengals, Redskins all could draft a QB. That's 8 teams right there in front of us.

Ravens, Chargers are right behind us who could easily jump us.

Then there's the Bills who absolutely need a QB with only Peterman, sitting there with 2-1sts 2-2nds and 2-3rds. They have the firepower to trade for any pick in the draft.

The good news is Green Bay got Kizer so they're out.

This list will obviously dwindle once the free agent QB's sign, and obviously some of these potential places won't go for any QB and wait another year. But any of these places could jump in.

Well when everyone disagrees with me, it makes me re-think my perspective.

Four or five people on the forum isn't everyone. Your first reaction to the Browns trading for Taylor has as much validity as other first reactions. It is your opinion and not an error of fact, so don't give up your lunch money on the playground so easily---even if you get compliments from the ones who take it from you.

After all, we are talking the Browns (keep that in mind for the rest of my post).

Who knows how the Browns have the QBs in this draft rated??? Personally, I just don't see a single guy who is the future HOF QB in the bunch. The only QB in this class that has a higher NFL.com draft rating ahead of #1 Trub. of last year is Darnold. Does anyone think he is a future HOF? Isn't that the expectation for a #1 guy in the entire draft class?

Do the Browns see Taylor as better or at least equal to anything in this draft? If so, they just got a QB for a #3 and have their other picks to get some guys who do have future HOF written on them---how about Barkley and Chubb at the top now that they have their QB?

Even if the Browns consider Taylor as only a 'bridge QB' it doesn't force them into a high-pick QB this year. The draft will still be held next year. They could install Taylor as the QB (he has a better track record so far over Kizer) and trade one or even both of their high picks for futures . . . and still have Taylor on his two-year contract as a bridge guy for next year when they take a QB.

The other possibility that could salvage your original statement would be for the Browns to sign a FA QB based on their bankroll cap space. What if they blow away the other teams and cough up the cash for Cousins? They would have their starter, a former starter at backup QB, and use their picks on other position players besides QB. That would trigger some serious leapfrogging by teams desperate for a QB.

For a team that loves to trade for future picks, bartering away one or even both (yikes) of their top picks would net them a draft bounty for years to come. The Browns would rule the draft for years. They'd have all the prime property titles on the Monopoly board even if they don't know how to build motels on them.

Browns Trading Bonanza isn't done. They just traded Danny Shelton to New England.

after a number of trades, including a somewhat forced trade by the Cardinals to ensure that they get 'somebody'.

1) Browns - Saquon Barkley
2) Giants - Sam Darnold
3) Jets - Josh Rosen
4) Bills - Josh Allen
5) Broncos - Baker Mayfield
6) Colts - Bradley Chubb
7) Buccaneers - Quentin Nelson
8) Bears - Minkah Fitzpatrick
9) 49ers - Roquan Smith
10) Raiders - Mike McGlinchey
11) Cardinals - Lamar Jackson
12) Seahawks - Joshua Jackson
13) Redskins - Denzel Ward
14) Ravens - Vita Vea
15) Dolphins - Courtland Sutton

what the Cards should do is pick up Sam Bradford, draft Kyle Lauletta in the 2nd, and resign Gabbert as the 3rd string, emergency guy. They should draft Vita Vea, Quentin Nelson, Roquan Smith, or Joshua Jackson in the first, whichever one is available, in that order as big difference makers.

This. They are going to take J. Allen at 4, imo. Big, strong arm for those elements up there.
Look at the QB's they've recently started though. Kizer and Taylor are very different from Allen, aren't they? Seems like those two suggest who they might target to cultivate. Mayfield?

If the Browns take Chubb #1 it guarantees Darnold or Mayfield will be there at 4. Garrett & Chubb on the edge is scary.

Here are the isseus we will now run into.

1-Cleveland will likely take a QB with either 1 or 4.
2-Giants seem more willing to trade the #2 pick if Browns take Barkley 1.
3-Indy is likely to trade out of #3.
4-Broncos likely miss out on Cousins...trade up from or draft a QB at 5.
5-Jets need a QB. #7 isn't a far drop for a team wanting to trade back.
6-Bills now have a need and two firsts to offer.
7-Cardinals will now have to offer more than the Bills to move up from 15 if a team is willing to move that far back. They will also need to offer enough to better an offer made from a team in the top 10.
