Why not? They're drafting a quarterback first and McCarron is a free agent.
I don't think McCarron is going to garner anywhere near the interest as the media is reporting. Best case scenario for AJ is a Glennon type contract. I just can't see any GM giving AJ McCarron a deal with multiple years guaranteed.

they just traded a third round pick for a starter. that indicates they are not drafting a QB first. Based upon their own comments it is a stronger indication they are trading away the first pick.

If America can win the gold medal in curling, then Canadians can be American heroes. It's only fair.
They occupy North America just like us so calling Canadians 'Americans' isn't a stretch. That said, is everyone convinced that the Giants aren't going to go QB? Eli's days are numbered either by trading him or him retiring in the next couple of years so them going QB isn't out of the realm of possibility. The Colts aren't a lock not to take one too. Luck hasn't been healthy in 3 years and his status isn't set by any stretch.

after a number of trades, including a somewhat forced trade by the Cardinals to ensure that they get 'somebody'.

1) Browns - Saquon Barkley
2) Giants - Sam Darnold
3) Jets - Josh Rosen
4) Bills - Josh Allen
5) Broncos - Baker Mayfield
6) Colts - Bradley Chubb
7) Buccaneers - Quentin Nelson
8) Bears - Minkah Fitzpatrick
9) 49ers - Roquan Smith
10) Raiders - Mike McGlinchey
11) Cardinals - Lamar Jackson
12) Seahawks - Joshua Jackson
13) Redskins - Denzel Ward
14) Ravens - Vita Vea
15) Dolphins - Courtland Sutton

what the Cards should do is pick up Sam Bradford, draft Kyle Lauletta in the 2nd, and resign Gabbert as the 3rd string, emergency guy. They should draft Vita Vea, Quentin Nelson, Roquan Smith, or Joshua Jackson in the first, whichever one is available, in that order as big difference makers.
4 straight QB's?

I'll just go ahead and quote my own post, from the top of this page, which already directly answered this question:

I keep reading options like this for us and other teams, but they aren't options. In this scenario, the rookie would need to be a low-round nobody or an UDFA. Not only would they get no practice time and no real development, they'd likely have to be cut and added to the practice squad. If you want a high-round draft pick QB to develop, they have to be the #2.

Oh please. John Dorsey has a proven track record as a general manager. He's not Sashi Brown and he's not trading out of the top spot for more draft picks. He was brought in to locate and draft a franchise quarterback and that's exactly what he'll do.
Tyrod is a stop gap that gives them a chance at a few wins. He's not a player that stops you from drafting a qb 1.

And before you even suggest he's drafting Barkley at 1.

Youre right, Stout. They won't sign AJ he's already under contract on their team. He's no better than Kessler

I'm convinced the Giants go QB. Doubly convinced they go QB if the Browns take Barkley.

The Giants won't be picking this high again for a while - now is the time, IMO.
