the Good, the Bad, in the Queen is a new band that was formed over the past year in England, however, all four members are prominent in their own right...

The singer/writer/keyboardist is Damon Albarn who many are familiar w/his works w/Blur, the Gorillaz, and all his other side/solo projects he's embarked on.... Their bassist is Paul Simonon..who which many of you recall along with Topper Hedron were the rhythm section of the Clash...Guitarist is Simon Tong who played on the latter Verve albums (especially on the stand-out '97 release "Urban Hymns")... Legendary drummer Tony Allen who's known for being a member of Fela Kuti's (the Nigerian answer to Bob Marley) band.....

Here's their official website:

Their myspace page:

There are several performances of them on youtube and I'll add those later.... Originally it was supposed to be just a Damon Albarn solo album, but they are realized how much awesome synergy together, that decided to record a full-length album.... Unfortunately, on some of the tracks.. all their true talents dont fully show due to some of Albarn's urging, but it's still a remarkable release and definitely worth picking-up a copy.. Should be an interesting year for them and hope that '07 ends w/Blur and Coxon back in the studio, but I must now rejoice in the Good, the Bad, and the Queen for now...

they're pretty good, from what i've heard so far. i heard that the band is actual sans name at the moment and they're just using the album title until they decide on one.

You have excellent taste in music... how did you discover the tGtB&tQ yourself?

Yeah.. initially it began as the album title, but it appears now that they have adopted that as the official name of the band, likewise......

I just would love though for Blur to reunite w/Graham, Simon Tong and the rest of Verve to get back together.. unfortunately.. we all know about Joe Strummer.. and infact it was rumored just prior to his death the Clash were on the verge of making a comeback.....

I agree.... this band's music has potential, but from what Ive heard... it seemed that they didnt showcase all of their talents to the fullest.....they could have jammed more on some tracks, but I guess this is where Damon wanted them to focus more on his lyrics than anything else....

Have you or anyone else for that matter checked them out? I think it's an interesting blend of musicians, however, still not being able to showcase their full true talents due to concept of being constrained since theyre trying to be a more cohesive unit than anything else....

Here's some recent footage of them:

i was listening to blur back when i was 13 or 14 (1995), and i have no clue how i got started listening to them. since then i've always kind of followed damon's projects. gorillaz are just ok, imo, but ...and the queen seems much more promising. their song herculean was #1 this week on sirius left of center's countdown.

Yeah.. I began listening to Blur in '94 when I first heard "Girls & Boys" on the radio and have enjoyed their music ever since... Both "Parklife"/"Great Escape" are masterpieces, but I listen to more of "Blur" and "13" era more than anything....

Gorillaz are decent for what they're worth... GB&Q are a short-term project especially since it's getting more apparent Blur will be back in the studio next year w/Graham back in the fold.... Have you ever checked-out Coxon's solo work? Its pretty different, but..obviously would much rather prefer him back in Blur where he belongs...

Also listened to "The History Song." I like that, too. But, I'm going to bed so I'll listen to more in the AM.
