The Great Food Truck Race

Fun show. We ate from one of the trucks that was on last year's season: The Nom Nom Truck. Good stuff.

http://nomnomtruck.com/la/

We each got 12 inch Banh Mi sandwiches (Lemongrass Chicken and Grilled Pork) and split them. We also got an order of Vietnamese tacos and split them. Plus two drinks. We were in Venice Beach (outside The Brig). The server's name was Max and he told us he was pulling for the Cardinals when he saw my Cards' hat.

A lot of the ones on this season are also from Cali so it's easy to make a road trip over and try some of their food.

The Food Network website also has a contest where you vote for your favorite/local food truck.

I like this show more than thought I would. Who lost the Flag episode? My sat signal messed up the recording. :(

And the food most of them looks kinda the same and gross.

The Waffle Guys were the lowest, but they had immunity.

So the Barbie Babes were next lowest and are gone.

Reality TV: proof of the impending apocalypse.

I used to hold that same snotty attitude, but somehow despite myself I've gotten totally hooked on both Master Chef and So You Think You Can Dance.
A friend snorted at my weakness before reluctantly admitting she likes The Voice.
I justify my falling standards by remembering that as primarily social animals, humans have an innate need to observe other humans (and probably to gossip and judge).

And what is ASFN if not its own little reality show?

So, isn't it time for people on this show to make more than two or three things each truck?

The Grizzly: cole slaw, wings, gross pasta
Korean: Fried Rice Balls and burgers
Nonna's meatballs and donuts
Coast: hot dogs and catfish
Waffles: sweet waffles not sweet waffles.

Boring!

Yeah, and McDonald's needs to stop selling hamburgers, because they have made them for what, 50 years?

Today we ate lunch from the Nola Creations food truck at the State Fair of Louisiana in Shreveport, LA.

https://nola-creations.com/

They won the most recent season of The Great Food Truck Race. We got to spend a few minutes with them talking about their time on the show. Great people and amazing cajun flavors. Wife had shrimp and grits with beignets and I had a catfish po-boy with fries and beignets.
