Just got back from watching it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The dialogue was the high-point for me - very real. Yeah, it had it's corny/chick flick/predictable parts, but overall it was decent.

Wasn't too sure about Cameron Diaz in the beginning, but she won me over. I absolutely adore Kate Winslet, and she was great in this film. Loved the old guy, too.

Jack Black surprised me too.

It's just another chick flick, but dang, the writing was great.

I recently watched this. I didn’t like it. However, I thought it did get better as it moved along. It took about 30 minutes before it started to get interesting, so I never really got into it.

Out of the 4 actors I thought Law was the most impressive. Winslet was okay, but Diaz and Black were borderline awful.

I thought this was interesting:
On an episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Dustin Hoffman said that his cameo in the film was not scripted and unplanned. He was driving by the Blockbuster shown in the film and saw all of the cameras and equipment so he decided to stop in and see what was happening. Because he knew director Nancy Meyers, they worked up a scene which ultimately made the final cut.

One thing I didn't understand was how each of Law's kid's names appeared on his caller ID. I doubt they had their own cell phones, so wouldn't their grandparent's name show up on the caller ID?
