Reportedly the NY Jets want to trade up for WR A Johnson. Reportedly the NO Saints want to trade up for DB M Truffaunt. Arguably, the Cardinals need immediate help at both WR and CB. If we sign Holliday, we can at least entertain offers to trade down. Both the Jets and the Saints might think we could draft the players they covet with our first pick. If we do not sign Holliday, our first pick is in stone. We will have to draft a DL. Even if Suggs is not available. I think we would be better off trading down for extra picks. I think trading down is a smart move only if we sign Holliday. If we don't, I think the Jets and the Saints will be making their offers to somebody else.

I don't think Holliday is the short or long term answer to our pass rush needs. He's better than anyone we have now, so I'd like to see him on the roster, but I'd also like to see Suggs on the roster.

If Suggs is off the board I'd hope that we would be able to trade down and get two #1s, but if he's there I'd stay put.

Eloquently stated

I feel that even tho Holliday is not a BIG time pass rusher, he isnt bad either...

I would much rather have 4 guys that can both rush the passer and stuff the run equally well...

Holliday and Bryant(hopfully) can upgrade the lack of passrush we have had the last few years...

That being said, I think we can improve our pass rush in a team way instead of 1 super sack DE...

But signing Holliday gives us alot of options in the draft. We could Take Suggs and move Holliday to DT(this would be a dream come true). Or if Suggs isnt an option we can get a DT or a WR since the draft is full of DT depth...

That's a good thought, could Holliday play DT full-time?

DE is by far the biggest need on the team right now. If Holliday signs the DE position IMO moves down to the same status as our other needs (DT, WR & CB) and we have four positions that we need equally.

Almost everyone on this board wants us to take Suggs even if he's there at #6 even if Holliday is signed. What about DT Robertson? If Suggs is too good to pass on at #6, isn't Robertson?

Whether or not we signed Holliday would have little if any impact on our draft.

We need an edge rusher on the right side. And if we get him, that means VDB would join Wakefield on the left side.

All Holliday would have done is to upgrade RDE but also add to the logjam there - while at the same time whining in the lockerroom.

Either way - we'll try to get Suggs. And if Suggs is gone, my guess is - we'll try to drop down to add an extra pick or draft Newman, Trufant or Robertson at #6. Whether we were to add or not add Holliday should have no bearing on our plans.

I would like that trade, but only with the Jets.. We drop down 7 spots.. There is a chance Trufant might still be there. Pending a NO trade we could steal him at 13.. With the other pick from the Jets 22? I forget... We could tab a pretty good D-Lineman at that spot.. Kenny Peterson has been rising in stock and might be gone by then, but he would be a nice pickup there. If not Peterson, how about BPA..

Suggs will likely still be a good pass rusher in 5 years, Holliday won't. So if we can get Suggs we still probably should.

I love Robertson if Suggs is gone I'm all over DeWayne, but if Suggs is there the edge rusher is just harder to pass up for my money.

If Suggs is on the board It's a no brainer, if not we are going to trade down i truly believe this.

Trufant probably wouldn't last that long, considering that there seems to be a huge dropoff after Newman and Trufant.

If we traded down to 13 and 22, I would take the best available d lineman and wide receiver. I would be tempted to use the 13 on a DL and the 22 on a receiver. At 13, McDougal might still be there and at 22, Taylor Jacobs might be there.

A draft with McDougal and Jacobs as our top two picks wouldn't be bad at all. If I were to grab these two in the first, with my high second I would grab a corner.

Even if we sign Holliday, I think we still take Suggs , and if Suggs is gone we take Robertson. The number one goal now is to cement our front seven on defense. Getting Holiday would give us great flexibility on draft day. A DE or DT is the top pick. Then we could go WR, Cb, or C in the next three rounds.

I hope we sign him really soon so we can concentrate on the draft. Holliday is a piece of the puzzle and no more. We need to find more and hopefully we will with more FA's the Draft and on June 1st.

I think we trade down with the jets if holliday is signed. With the jets two picks we could get woolfolk which is a great CB or boss bailey and Jacobs. We have an early second round pick so we could use it then to get a DT. DT is not the biggest need we have but it is up there. I would like to get a good CB across from starks and have some kind of threat at WR so the opposition does not stack so many in the box.

Trading Down Or Not

I have no problem with trading down.....what do you want ....1 number one pick or two.....if who we want is gone then it's a no-brainer.

The problem is of course we don't know who WE want.

It looks like from all the talk that without trading down then names like Suggs....Leftwich.....Newman....Trufant....Robertson...and Kennedy would satisfy most of us.....some have even thrown in the name of Miami WR Andre Johnson.

On reason we can trade down is to solidify the 2 needs of WR and DE as has been mentioned.

That would be an interesting scenario....the above mentioned Taylor at WR would be great.....I'm not sold on McDougal and think there has to be others who are a "sure thing no-bust" kinda guy.....the worst scene scenario is that we trade down and end up with one of those 2 picks being a Thomas Jones or a Johnny Rutledge kinda pick....that would really suck.

I confess that I'm not a draft guru but I don't understand why people say we should take Suggs (assuming he is there), if we sign Holiday ?

In this case isn't a WR or DT more imnportant ?
