This movie was pretty funny and very entertaining.

It was a little wierd seeing Michael Douglas in this kind of role but he was very good at it. I dont recall his co-stars name off hand but he was also very good.

File this under the never needed to be made section of film history. I havent seen it, but I can't for the life of me see how this one can even compete with the original. Alan Arkin and Peter Falk were brilliant in this film. If you havent seen the original, I suggest you do.

Regardless of the original which I fully admit I havent seen. It has no bearing on this film. This is a present day film that I enjoyed and thought was very funny.

I will check out the other one on your recommendation but regardless im quite certain it wont take away my enjoyment of this one.

Which is cool. Im just saying that a good portion of the time, when I see a classic being re done, I scratch my head and ask "why?" I guess the obvious respose is that many people havent seen the poriginal, or the technology ha changed enough to warrant a remake from a SFX standpoint but still. Maybe IIm a fuddy duddy, but I see NO reason to tinker with a classic.

Planet of the Apes (im a HUGE Tim Burton fan and this film SUCKED)
Willy Wonka (getting lazy Mr Burton? though Ill reserve judgement here until its actually released)
Oceans 11
Red Dragon

Im sure there are others. Generally, the remakes arent nearly as good as the original, but again, that could be because one saw the original first, and had pre conceived notions about what the remake should aspire to be. But even still with that in mind, what director would want to mess with an audiences pre conceived notions?

Didn't know they were remaking Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This has disaster written all over it. What actor in their right mind would try and follow Gene Wilder's performance? He is Willy Wonka.

I thought it had a few funny scenes. The silly storyline kinda got old after a while though. Ryan Reynolds sure looked young.
