The Lost Room is a science fiction television miniseries airing on the Sci Fi Channel. The series revolves around the titular room and roughly 100 everyday items from that room possessing unusual powers, such as a bus ticket that can instantaneously transport a person to a particular location or a comb that can temporarily freeze time around a person. The series' protagonist, Joe Miller, is searching for these "Objects" to use as tools in rescuing his daughter, Anna, who disappeared inside of the Room. Once a typical rental unit at a 1960s motel along Route 66, the Room now exists outside of normal time and space.
Did anyone else see this when it aired? I just got around to watching it and thought it was great. The only issue I had was that part three concluded more like a pilot than a miniseries. I hope this gets turned into a regular series. The 4400 keeps getting renewed and it really isn't all that great. There aren't enough good sci-fi shows on tv.

Very old but I just watched in DVD via Netflix. I liked it too but I didn't like the ending at all, they had a great idea but didn't seem to know how to end it.

The ending wasn't perfect but it was an entertaining story nonetheless. I thought it was one of the better action/adventure/sci-fi miniseries I've seen (behind Andromeda Strain probably). It's been a few years since I've watched it though so maybe the weakness of the ending has paled through time.

Saw it on netflix and thought it was f'n spectacular. Right in my wheelhouse of entertainment. My only regret was that it was a mini-series and not an ongoing show.

I loved it until the ending. Maybe I just didn't get it but they implied the guy had done something to end what was going on and then right at the end you see that he hadn't ended it. So it was a setup for more to come.

Maybe that's why I didn't like the ending, I knew there was no more episodes to come?

Yeah, you're right. The ending was far from inspired. Made me feel like the whole thing was a long pilot instead of a finite mini series.

...one can hope.

I read a bunch of reviews on Amazon last night.

1) I wasn't the only one that found the first CD didn't work right, if you click on play all it takes you back to the beginning, but won't play all. Apparently even the ones you buy off Amazon have that problem.

2) People either love the open ended ending, or they didn't get it like me so I guess that's interesting to know other opinions.

3) Most people loved it, virtually everyone said something like I was expecting another really bad SciFi show but this was great.

I read a book a few months ago called "The Breach" by Patrick Lee. It's sort of a similar story although it has nothing to do with a hotel room. Without too much plot spoiling Scientists accidentally create an opening that produces "objects". They don't know where the opening leads or where the objects come from. Some of them do things, some don't(or they can't figure out what they do). Some are extremely powerful.

It's a very interesting read when I was watching the Lost Room I was almost wondering if the book inspired the show or vice versa but I think not.

Thanks. I'm going to check it out.

If you like that kind of SciFi book, check out "Replay." It's a different twist on time-travel.
