This is such a great story.

Parker last saw Butler about one month ago, during the New England Patriots’ bye week. Butler had gone home to Vicksburg, and every time he traveled home he still stopped by Popeyes to see his old boss and talk. “He was excited about the playoffs,” Parker said. Monday morning, Parker watched Butler give an interview on ESPN. She beamed when Butler mentioned he used to work at Popeyes.

Butler, 24, had completed an inconceivable path from batter cook to Division II standout to undrafted rookie to Super Bowl hero. Sunday night, Butler sealed the Patriots’ 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks with an interception at the goal line with 20 seconds remaining, both the deciding play of a classic Super Bowl and the culmination of Butler’s self-made ascension.

For the public, Butler’s interception turned him into an overnight sensation. Nothing about his story, though, is instant or easy. Butler earned his place in football history through years of perseverance, through overcoming challenges from childhood with honest, constant work.

...

“He’s been picking me off all season in practice,” Brady said at Monday morning’s post-Super Bowl news conference. “So it was nice to see him do it to someone else.”

Tom Brady gives Super Bowl MVP 2015 Chevrolet Colorado truck to Malcolm Butler

http://www.examiner.com/article/tom...15-chevrolet-colorado-truck-to-malcolm-butler

The Detroit News reported earlier today (Feb. 2,2015) that Super Bowl XLIX gameday MVP Tom Brady handed the keys of his rightfully won 2015 Chevrolet Colorado to teammate and hero of the game Malcolm Butler, a cornerback for the New England Patriots. It's almost tradition for the Most Valuable Player of the NFL Superbowl to receive some type of car from General Motors. In recent years, Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens was rewarded with a shiny new Corvette for leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory in 2013. But this time, Tom Brady always the class act, threw the keys of his 2015 Chevrolet Colorado to the real MVP of the fourth quarter, 24 year old Malcolm Butler.

Great kid and Great Story...Let's just hope he continues to grow and becomes more like Revis, and not just another Super Bowl footnote like Larry Brown.

Good story. Pretty awesome of Brady to do this as well.

Yet another 'hard work and perseverance' pays off story with a happy ending. You have to love the people like him that don't let anything stand in their way of doing what they want.

That is awesome, because Butler was my MVP choice.

What I loved most about it all was that the scout team burned him on that exact play during practice before the game, and when he saw it line up, he dialed up the practice memory and reacted to the ball. Like you are supposed to. When you are prepared. When you work your ass off. When one play means everything. That to me is glorious. There is absolutely nothing I admire more than hard work and preparation.

Absolutely nailed by the kid in the game, and absolutely nailed by Dogg in this post.
