Lakeshore Entertainment has been set to finance The Midnight Meat Train, an adaptation of the Clive Barker story about a New York-based photographer's effort to track down "the subway butcher," a search that leads to an unholy secret.

The film was adapted by Jeff Buhler and will be directed by Patrick Tatopoulos, a horror veteran who has done extensive creature and production design work.

Lions Gate Films will distribute and production will start in the fall.

Any Clive Barker fans out there?

Plot Summary: Next stop...death. When Leon Kaufman's (Bradley Cooper) latest body of work – a collection of provocative, nighttime studies of the city and its inhabitants - earns the struggling photographer interest from prominent art gallerist Susan Hoff (Brooke Shields), she propels him to get grittier and show the darker side of humanity for his upcoming debut at her downtown art space. Believing he's finally on track for success, Leon's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer, Mahogany (Vinnie Jones), the subway murderer who stalks late-night commuters - ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways imaginable. With his concerned girlfriend Maya (Leslie Bibb) fearing for his life, Leon's relentless fascination with Mahogany lures him further and further into the bowels of the subways and ultimately into an abyss of pure evil – inadvertently pulling Maya right along with him.

One of the worst titles in film history. Bar none.
Who is the dolt that insisted they insert the word meat in the title. Wouldn't just Midnight Train be better? Maybe they are going for the porn crowd.

The original author Clive Barker.

From Wikipedia:

The Midnight Meat Train is a 2008 horror film based on Clive Barker's 1984 short story of the same name, which can be found in Volume One of Barker's collection Books of Blood. The film follows a photographer who attempts to track down a serial killer dubbed the "Subway Butcher" and discovers more than he bargained for under the city streets.

The film was directed by Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura and stars Bradley Cooper, Roger Bart, Vinnie Jones and Brooke Shields. The script was adapted by Jeff Buhler, the producer was Tom Rosenberg of Lakeshore Entertainment, and it will be released on August 1, 2008.

The adaptation of this script was a labor of love for long-time Barker fan Jeff Buhler, who worked closely with Barker throughout the process. Their intent was to expand the world presented in the original short story while preserving the underlying mythology and themes presented in this seminal work of horror short fiction. Both Barker and Buhler fought long and hard to retain the original title of the film, which at one point was going to be changed by Lakeshore Entertainment to the more "user-friendly" "Midnight Train."

this movie was pretty good IMO. There were 2 things that really bothered me about this movie but even having said that, I still give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

I'm not a big fan of horror films, but this one managed to maintain my interest. One of the grossest films I've ever seen.

Shane and Brian, I suspect that this one is more your style.
