you can't honestly think the NBA is HAPPY that a future superstar is going to a horrendous market instead of going to the Lakers/Celtics. Everyone at NBA Headquarters probably threw up in their mouth when they saw that happen.

The system they talked about rotating the #1 pick, I'm for it starting with the Suns. Ineptitude should not continually be rewarded.

2004 Magic - Dwight
2005 Bucks - Bogut
2006 Toronto - Bargnani
2007 Portland - Oden
2008 Bulls - Rose
2009 Clippers - Griffin
2010 Wizards - Wall
2011 Cleveland - Irving
2012 New Orleans - Anthony Davis
2013 Cleveland - Anthony Bennett

It's frustrating to see Cleveland get another #1 pick, but outside of them, if you look at the last 10 years, most of these franchises got better after getting the #1 pick.

Since their #1 Pick:Magic went to the finals with Dwight, multiple playoff appearances
Bucks - Playoffs 2 times
Toronto - Playoffs 3 times
Bulls - Playoffs every year since
Clippers - Playoffs 3 times
Wizards - Playoffs 1 times
Portland multiple playoff runs (although no thanks to Oden)

For the most part they all got better thanks in part to the draft. So it's hard to argue that the current system doesn't work at all. Just not in Cleveland or New Orleans lol

That would be awful. The NFL can allow the worst team to get the #1 pick because there is only 16 games. If you're going into the tank, its only going to effect maybe 4 games. In the NBA there are 82 games, you could easily see a team putting up 40+ nights of subpar effort once they realize they're out of it.

I wonder how different things would be for the Cleveland Browns if they got all the #1 picks all the time as well.

They need to go the wheel and rotate the pick. The tanking is just ridiculous and incompetence like we have seen in Cleveland should not be rewarded. Gilbert will somehow screw it up even if he does miraculously pick the right player.

As a Suns fan, I can't think of a much worse plan. The last thing we need is an across the board draft. The rich already have far too much going for them to also get an even deal in the draft. They're going to get the small market stars when their first contracts are up already, do they need any more of an advantage than that? Let the Clevelands of the league draft the best players every year, what good does the first five years of a budding star do them anyway.

I don't think tanking is all that big of a problem. There was more of it this year than ever before and in the end, what did it matter? Not too many franchises can afford to drive their fans away for an entire season. If tanking is a problem, it will solve itself.

Maybe if NBA teams were ruled ineligible to draft in the top three positions in consecutive drafts. They would be pushed back allowing three new teams to occupy those slots. This would apply to the lottery as well.

I honestly wonder if LeBron would have went back if the Cavs didn't get Wiggins.

How nice a promotional story is it that LeBron goes back and wins a ring for his hometown team?

I believe 2 or 3 of the Cavs #1 picks were actually picks they acquired from other teams via trade.

Scratch that. Only the Kyrie pick was aquired (from the Clippers in a Baron Davis trade) according to nbadraft.net
