First, a sixth seed? Most people had us at a 4, which I figured meant we might get a 5. We drop to six and get Temple and Syracuse? Sendek better be ready to coach these kids up. A short bench is going to be seriously challenged.

I am trying to keep myself from filling out a bracket. I just hope to have time to watch a few games.

I thought we'd be a 5 seed. The Pac 10 wasn't very highly thought of (even though 6 teams got in), so I wasn't expecting us to get a 4. A 6 doesn't surprise me.

Syracuse is a matchup nightmare for ASU.

- Flynn can penetrate the zone and 'Cuse has shooters once the defense reacts
- Syracuse has a gimme in round 1 unlike ASU
- Syracuse plays against a defense similar to ASU's every day in practice
- Syracuse is much more athletic

That being said, ASU will have the best player on the court so they do have a puncher's chance.

Def not a good draw for ASU or UCLA. If Christmas is hitting ASU is going to have some problems. If he isnt ASU will blow them out.

Certainly not thrilled at all with Cuse in the 2nd round. Having said that, the Orange can be a Jekyll and Hyde team, so hopefully we have bad Syracuse that night.

Temple is going to be tougher than most people are expecting, but I do expect ASU to win. as far as the Cuse go...I think this is a great matchup for both teams.

Mulli, you should give me $1 million to have your back. I'll be your enforcer in case Syracuse defaults on the bet.

That's not a threat. He'll be matched up with Pendergraph, and there's not an ounce of meat on that kid's bones. Pendy would be spit back up in under 2 minutes.

Now Boateng might be worth offering ... and we could use the scholarship.

Nope. Too many assumptions there.

1. Temple ain't no gimme.

2. A Syracuse/ASU is one of those weird pairings of unique teams. They both play a mathcup zone most of the time. Very few teams do that and do it well like these two. Tough to predict which team will handle it better.

A zone needs to be penetrated with a kickout. Flynn and devondorf both penetrate MUCH better than glasser and are both much better finishers. Kuksiks is on a cold streak from 3 while Rautins is a great 3 point shooter. I just dont see how ASU could hang with 'cuse. Syracuse is better at playing the zone as well.

The Orangemen certainly have underachieved in recent years, two straight first round exits preceded their last two years of NIT flameouts. SFA giving them a challenge in the first round would definitely help ASU's cause.

But Harden is the primary ball handler in most half-court sets, and he (along with Kuksiks) have shown an ability to terrorize zone defenses. Harden was destroying USC. They went man and that's when things turned around for the Trojans.

I feel ASU is too undisciplined for SU's zone. Rautins and Flynn have good instincts to pick of Kuksiks weak passes and Kristof will pick off Ty Abbot's weak entry passes. ASU has to be very crisp to have a chance.
