OMG....

This is at Blockbuster and I keep wanting to rent it. It's a remake of The Net with Sandra Bullock but they make up to date. The movie was out of date when it came out, with it's 56k modem and floppy disk plots....

Anyone see it?

Ha ha, no. I really, really liked The Net, with the girl from The Bus. Ahhhh, back in the days when the Internet was all new and smelled good.

Allow me to be the one to jump on the grenade and watch this one. I’ll get back to you in a few weeks and let you know how painful it was. I liked The Net also, but this one looks pretty bad. IMDB has a 4.4 rating.

I moved this to #2 on my blockbuster queue (behind my first Lost episode) and it said "Long Wait". I suspect that this is due to the fact that they only bothered to produce a handful of DVD’s, rather than it is in huge demand.

There was only 1 copy at blockbuster, it was on the bottomshelf of the new releases next to a copy of "Punk'd: Season 1"

Why the hell would you remake a movie that's only 10 years old, especially since the remake has no big name stars and is a straight to video release?

Hollywood is truely going too far with this remake trend...

UPDATE: After reading up on it on imdb.com, it's not a remake, it's a sequel. No word on how it stacks up to Basic Instinct II.

You couldn't tell that The Net 2.0 was a sequel?

Hey, I was going off what Ryanwb said, and he said it was a remake. Besides, if you follow that logic, then X-Men 1.5 is a movie that takes place between X-Men 1 and X-2, right? Of course, we all know it's just the first X-Men on DVD with added scenes and extra features. The Net 2.0 title makes it sound like it could be an "updated version" of the original, i.e. a remake.

:nono:

When Die Hard 4 was rumored to involve computers it was announced that it would be called Die Hard 4.0.

Tron 2.0 (the movie not the video game) was supposed to be a sequel to Tron but has never developed.

A remake of The Net would most likely be called The Net. :D

Hey, like I said, I was going off by what Ryanwb said. I took him at his word, and didn't think to question it until I got curious and jumped on IMDB. Geez, you guys are being hard on me. You're gonna make me cry...

This is still the #1 movie on my list, but Lost has been dominating my list lately. Now that Freaks & Geeks has been cranked out, I’ll get to this soon.

This sucker went straight to video, so it's not going to be pretty. I don't recognize any of the actors and the sales data is unavailable at IMDB. This is going to be scary.

That must explain why it's #1 on your list.

Plot Summary

Genres: Action, Drama, Thriller
Tagline: No. Money. No. Identity. No. Way Out.
Plot Outline The life of a young computer systems analyst is thrown into turmoil when, after arriving in Istanbul to start a new job, she finds her credit cards useless, her bank account empty, and her identity stolen.

Actors: Nikki Deloach, Cengiz Bozkurt, Demet Akbag, Neil Hopkins, Courtney Vye
Directors: Charles Winkler

*********

I just watched it. The only reason it is called The Net 2.0 is because the director is the son of Irwin Winkler, the director of The Net. This had nothing to do with the first one.

It was about on par with a bad 2 hour TV episode of some crime drama. The camera work was extremely annoying. They kept speeding up and pausing for no particular reason. I guess if you work in the computer security industry you might be somewhat entertained laughing at the ludicrous happenings, otherwise it’s just taking up space on the shelf.
