I'm sorry but we should be blowing them out. Josh has 2 td passes but he's just not that impressive, every throw off the back foot, he keeps lofting balls in and appears to be completely afraid of throwing over the middle.

Positive:

Great catch by Fitz, he sure can go get them up high.

2 sacks by pace, both somewhat coverage but he hustled.

Berry is destroying Kwame Harris, 1 sack and fumble forced, on the last 49er drive Harris literally tackled him on one play, with no call, to keep him off Rattay.

But the bottom line is if they score and get 2 on the first drive of the 2nd half it's a tie game.

To me the problem is simple, Green and Wood are smart enough to realize we can throw the ball on this team, but they have no confidence in Josh, if the first option isn't wide open, he's either running or throwing the ball away instead of looking for another option. While it limits turnovers, you're not going to score much doing that. I don't want to leap to conclusions but if you have that little confidence in your starting QB, maybe he shouldn't be starting?

Russ... look beyond the scoreboard...we are blowing them out...

Our defense is giving up field goals, theirs is giving up TD.

We're beating them bad in the physical game.

Our DEs are killing their OTs.

Our running backs are playing with heart. Barlow, for all his talent, has given up.

This is shaping up to be a good win. Let's hope it continues in the 2nd half.

I agree this is a scary game...I thought the Defense looked great other than the last 2 minutes of the game. Bottom line is that San Fran has ZERO to lose...Cards need to play like thier season is on the line. I think the tempo needs to be set coming out of the half. The result of the Niner first drive out of the half will tell alot of how the game is gonna go. I still say the Cards eek out thier first win on the road...

Oh I agree but if they score a TD and get 2 it's a tie game. I've seen a lot of NFL games where the losing team controlled the game, that's what is scaring me here.

The defense is doing it again but we seem to be trying to run the ball to control it when it's apparent to me we can throw all day. They have no pass rushers Carter is out, Peterson is out, we can double Bryant young and pick on their rookie CB Spencer the whole game, but we're not, which tells me Green doesn't trust josh.

I disagree on McCown thus far. I think he is doing what he wouldnt or couldnt do before. Not run around, take sacks, and not throw the ball away. He did hang that one up to Jones but Jones was wide open when he did it. I dont think it was as risky a pass as it seemed.

One of pace's sacks was against Harris as well, he is getting schooled!

That punt return TD has made this game a dogfight.

Russ maybe you're the psychic today?

This 3 and out shiet is ticking me off.

BJ can't get open or catch.

Emmitt gets one fricking yard a carry.

Bring in King.

Bring on Hambrick.

against ATL, when josh dropped back to pass and had time, I felt confident he could complete the pass. That feeling started to fade for me last week, and this week it's gone. My nuts are in my stomach everytime he drops back to pass.

This game IS scaring the hell out of me (and much morfe after a 3 and out and a punt return for a TD), Josh is a big part of that feeling.

Anybody want to take back that overanalyzing comment now?

Look we showed in the 2nd half we could throw the ball against them, we got 2 easy TD's by just picking on Spencer and their other DB's because they couldn't get a pass rush without blitzing.

I don't know if Pendergast went prevent or not, didn't really look like it to me.

But we lost this game in the first half by failing to just blow them out, Green was concerned about letting Josh air it out so he tried to work in the run game and finally conceded look they can't stop us let's throw the ball.

Plenty of blame to go around, the punt return, Rackers kickoff, the stupid spearing on Dockett, 2 times were a DB would have had a pick but instead went for the knockout hit on the WR when teh ball was overthrown.

Josh had nice numbers 3 Td's but he left so many points out there it's not funny, we could have had 40+ easily if he makes some plays. That pick was ridiculous, he nearly hit Step in the head the throw was so low and the guy he was throwing to was doubled covered. Then he nearly throws the pick on the last drive of regulation, after taking a sack because he didn't see a blitz coming directly at his right side. Admittedly the blitzer came free but Josh didn't see him.

Just furious, I can't believe we let this team beat us.

This is disgusting. How could we let this team beat us.

Completly agree Russ. We should of been up by 20+ at the end of the half.

What I think killed us in the end (apart from the special teams). Was that we where facing so many 3rd downs. These weren't 3rd and shorts ether it was like 3rd and 6 every time and you can't expect to convert them every time.

I can't believe how angry I am at this team right now. Total melt down. We should of destroyed them and it should of been over at the half.

All the right in the world to be furious. I'am too.

What a way to loose the game.

Nice analysis so early on. I thought we would beat them handily in the second half.

Your QB analysis scares the hell out of me because I don't believe King is better. Just hope that DG and me are as wrong as he was on Shelton.

Here's where I'm torn. I DO think King is better than josh right now. But, I think King is as good as he';s going to get and Josh can get a whole lot better. I feel like it a situation where you have to decide if you can stand the growing pains--and even then it's a gamble because Josh might not get better, he too, may be as good as he's ever going to be.

Man, o man, I wish we didn't have questions at QB. That's such a tough position to fill. I feel like we can plug in players from the draft at CB and RB, but we've missed a window of opportunity top draft a QB that can contribute in 2005/06 when the rest of the team will be peaking (that is IF josh doesn't work out).

Yep, meanwhile Ben is the first rookie QB to win his first 3 starts since 1970 something, of course he has Burress and Ward to throw to, if we'd picked him over Fitz he'd have Williams, Johnson and Poole to throw to right now.

I agree, King is better now, King won't get any better, Green is banking that Josh WILL, i sure hope he's right.
