July 20, 2005

20th Century Fox has hired Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix helmer John Moore to direct The Omen, reports Variety.

The film is a remake of the 1976 horror classic about the arrival of the Antichrist in the home of an unsuspecting family.

Dan McDermott is writing a script that contemporizes the story. The project is on a fast track, as the studio has set a tentative October 3 start date.

I agree, good movie when it first came out, doesn't need to be remade.

I think I am the only one who thought this movie was not that good the first time around.

Omen Possesses Schreiber & Stiles
Source: Variety
August 10, 2005

Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles are in talks to reprise the roles played by Gregory Peck and Lee Remick in Fox's remake of 1976 horror classic The Omen, reports Variety.

Deals for the duo clear the way for an October start to filming on the thriller, titled The Omen 666. Fox has already scheduled a 6/6/06 release date, a Tuesday.

Richard Donner directed the original. Fox-based director John Moore (Flight of the Phoenix) will take on the new version written by Dan McDermott (Selling Time).

That solves it - they're redoing it so it can be released on 6/6/06. :|

Wow, did this movie suck. Bad writing, bad dialogue. Stiles did NOT click with either the role or the relationship with Schreiber. Schreiber was underacting, but I think that was a result of directing and script, a la the atrocious remake of The Manchurian Candidate. The kid was no good, probably because of how he was written. Thewlis was good and the priest was good, but not enough to make up for the rest. Just avoid this movie like the plague.

Was nowhere near as bad as you are saying it is. In fact the wife and I really enjoyed it. I thought Stiles did a very good job assuming the role, and thought the whole cast did very well.

More power to you. They already have the sequal coming out. Far too ambitious, IMO, but it's on the way.

completely uninteresting movie. not scary in the least....barely creepy. acting was aweful. Stiles seemed robotic, and helpless throughout the movie. everyone else just seemed like they were reading lines off a billboard showing no emotion.

rented it, fell asleep the first time through.
second time though i picked up where i fell asleep and again was just waiting for something to happen.

probably going to finish off the rest of it tonight though, just to see what happens (never saw the original).

but yeah, maybe 1 out of 5 stars
