According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Ben Barnes, currently on screen in the title role of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, will take on an even better-known literary character as he stars in a new film version of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Acclaimed director Oliver Parker will helm this retelling of the story of a man who lives a life of debauchery and never loses his youthful looks, his portrait instead reflecting his advancing age and growing list of sins.
Parker and producer Barnaby Thompson, who previously brought Wilde's An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest to the screen, will make the new picture both a visceral horror movie and a statement about modern celebrity. Filming is scheduled to begin in late July
