Imagine expecting an NFL QB to make a simple pitch. SMH
Given the situation, circumstances & time of the game it’s a piss poor play call let alone using a rarely used rookie RB & first time NFL starter at QB imo. At 3rd & 1 the offense most likely has 2 plays to get the 1st given Kliffs history of going on fourth. If they can’t execute that play they shouldn’t be in the NFL. The call worked but was executed horribly.
Jerry as a former college athlete the misdirection flip they tried isn’t all the simple imo in the full speed mode of the NFL. That playcall had a much bigger risk for a potential fumble or turnover than a QB sneak or straight ahead power run. And guess what...Imagine expecting an NFL QB to make a simple pitch. SMH
Bad play. Dude plays 3 plays a week and you trust him with the game on the line to catch a pitch from your 3rd string QB, from under center(which isn’t a normal formation for our offense) after he faked a quick hit up the middle to our power back that almost always falls forward for a yard. Kliff being cute and it ultimately cost us another game
Yeah. It's a pitch. You expect anyone to catch a pitch.
He's probably run that play 20x in practice.
This. Every team seems to have two backs that are used throughout the game. Sanders/ Gaines, Elliot/ Pollard, Cook/ Mattison are some examples.Bad play. It’s still an unnecessary risk on 3rd and 1 with our rookie tailback and 3rd string QB. It’s elementary for teams who run a pro style offense from under center, but not for a team who lines up in shotgun 90% of the time.He would have done a lot of damage with the space he had but our QB and HB cannot do something which is football elementary
It’s a pitch from under center after faking the handoff to the fullback. I’ll bet we haven’t practiced that play 20x with our #1 and #2 QB let alone our #3, who runs the scout team. Context matters in this situation. We didn’t run it with our #1s and experienced vets. We did it with Mcsorely and Ingram. 2 players that weren’t on the active roster week 1.Yeah. It's a pitch. You expect anyone to catch a pitch.

So you’re saying they all get paid to be a professional athlete where their career is throwing and catching the ball? Yeah, I agree. Its a pitch.
These guys have played football for 8-10 years.
I would expect to be able to drop 2 players in there that have never had a practice snap together and expect them to pull off a pitch from under C.

You get paid to do your job, but if your boss wants to to do something that you’ve never done before and you fail, is it your fault for not knowing how to do it or is it your boss’s fault for putting you in that situation? So you’re saying they all get paid to be a professional athlete where their career is throwing and catching the ball? The Cards blitzkrieg to the top draft pick will not fail!! Lol ugh what a shiatty yr in az sportsKliff deserves a hero for calling such a play with a rookie instead of a vet.
Ingram deserves a hero for dropping it I guess.
Salute to those guys! This tank will not be stopped!
To say they have “never” done this before a major stretch. I’d be willing to wager, they’ve practiced this many times over and it is in the arsenal of every high school football playbook I’ve seen. You get paid to do your job, but if your boss wants to to do something that you’ve never done before and you fail, is it your fault for not knowing how to do it or is it your boss’s fault for putting you in that situation?
I have to agree. How many pitch plays can anyone recall over kliff’s tenure? While it’s a staple of pee wee to pop Warner to high school to college and most pro play, I can honestly state it’s not something we see frequently with the cardinals. And it is a timing play, so not just any two players can just step into the play and run it seemlessly without reps with each other. It’s a pitch from under center after faking the handoff to the fullback. This evidences your lack of first person experience playing football. Its a pitch.
