The Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes for its Athlete of the Week award every week. The winner is decided by you, the readers.
The award highlights the best performances from Las Cruces-area schools from the previous week. This week, there are 10 nominees from Las Cruces, Mayfield, Centennial and Organ Mountain.
Everyone is encouraged to submit nominations for the upcoming week to [email protected].
The poll, located at the bottom of this page, closes on Friday at 11 p.m. There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often.

Here are this week's nominations:
Joaquin Pfeiffer (Las Cruces baseball)
Pfeiffer pitched a complete game shutout with 4 strikeouts and 5 hits allowed in the Bulldawgs' 2-0 win over Gadsden.
Eric Gomez (Organ Mountain baseball)
Gomez hit a crucial three-run double in the top of the seventh inning to help the Knights earn a 5-4 win over Alamogordo.
Cole Alons (Centennial baseball)
Alons hit 2 home runs and a triple with 4 RBIs on 3 hits in a 10-2 victory against Mayfield.
Addie Moccia (Centennial softball)
Moccia earned 5 hits, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs across a three-game series against Mayfield. She also scored 4 runs.
Adriana Peña (Las Cruces softball)
Peña hit 2 home runs for 5 total RBIs in a 12-0 victory against Gadsden.
Isabella Salinas (Organ Mountain softball)
Salinas registered 6 RBIs off 2 doubles in an 11-3 win over Alamogordo.
Xavier Ochoa (Mayfield boys' track and field)
Ochoa took home first place in the boys' 110- and 300-meter hurdles finals at the Therman Jordan Relays in Deming with times of 16.41 and 41.32 seconds, respectively.
Kaselle Davis (Las Cruces girls' track and field)
Davis won three events, the 200- and 400-meter dash finals and the high jump finals, at the Therman Jordan Relays in Deming. She ran 24.78 and 56.05-second times to win the 200- and 400-meter dashes, respectively, and recorded a 5-foot, 10-inch high jump to win her third event.

Ashley Galaz (Organ Mountain girls' track and field)
Galaz won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter finals with times of 5:42.8 and 12:01, respectively, at the Therman Jordan Relays in Deming.

Gabriela Abeyta (Organ Mountain girls' track and field)
Abeyta won the girls' shot put and discus throw finals at the Therman Jordan Relays in Deming with a shot put of 33 feet, 9 inches and a discus throw at 97 feet, 1 inch.
